Oh, oh... you might be right. That could indeed be caused by wear. I don't know, but that enhancement helps me see it. I don't know, I am not good at this stuff, I know there are some people who are really good at this, sure someone will confirm it.
As old as that pic is, and the cost of this knife, I would be suprised if a counterfit was even made at that time. I looked over both pics, in detail, and have had one (seal xr) for 3 years. That does not look fake.

Geez, I really am hoping the new knives coming from Cold Steel (I don't really buy SOG, kind of sketched to) after the GSM transfer have proper heat treat. No Chinese manufactured knives yet, but I did see a CS tanto, some fixed blade, that snapped after some light brush-whacking, which I hope to be a dud. I have a G10/AUS10 Espada XL on the way, which is presumably new, as it appears to be fresh stock.

My only answer to that is the Espada XL! But I do pocket the Voyager a lot, never feel it in a leather jacket, so I do like it in places where the Espada would be too much. Easy one hand deployment. I got it at a score for $25 from an awesome seller, as part of a package deal.
No doubt, Espada is a great knife, next one on my list.
‘Most of my knives are fitted with this little gimmick so I don’t even have to bother with one hand opening…

I'm hoping the same thing. I like the demko CS's and the better sogs like the seal xr. GSM taking over is a bad omen though.

I didn't see that. All of the Cold Steel knives I've bought except for a couple came prior to the company changing hands. I don't know anything about GSM. I got a Cold Steel 4 Max Scout that I pryed the hood of a Mack truck with one time. I also used one to beat on a rocking chair one time turn into firewood.

Who makes those, or did you make it? That is amazing, I would much prefer that to the stud! That looks like it may even be better than a Demko plate! Do you know how it compares? I absolutely love that. I found a company that makes stuff like that for some Spyderco knives, but have not seen many CS aftermarket accessories!

Those seem to have sturdy tips, am definitely considering buying one of these as a tiny worker!

Hashishiin Hashishiin Snaggle tooth makes the one for the stud options. I personally prefer the “mini” model
if you are right handed, you can order left handed tooth, this way you will eliminate the stud completely and open the blade only with the tooth, very comfortable if you want to use your thumb instead waving it.
