About IonFusion:
lonfusion technology claims to yield a blade that holds an edge 5x longer than a standard blade. The process fuses zirconium nitride to 420HC stainless steel resulting in a surface so hard it surpasses 80 Rockwell C - which is the top of the MOS scale. After these IonFusion blades undergo the fusion process, a factory cutting edge is sharpened on one side only. This one-sided sharpening allows the ion-fused surface to remain on one side of the blade where it wears more slowly than the exposed 420HC which theoretically keeps the edge sharp.
