View media item 9490Weight in carry system: 9.5 ounces--for comparison the La Colombe triple shot draft latte can is filled with foamy nitrous-infused milk and cold brew and weighs 10.4 ounces. Most tomahawks on the market today are over 20 ounces, but battle proven spike tomahawks favored by the First Nations tended to be much lighter, most averaging just 8 to 10 ounces. So if you want to experience how fast a tomahawk can be, back when it was the primary CQC weapon, then get yourself an Empress! You have to feel it to believe it. Our customers are always impressed.

The handle is straight grain hickory, charred, scarred, and hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil--excellent grip retention and highly water resistant. The head is triple cross wedged using the same Pennsylvania hickory as the handle.
View media item 9487The rear facing talon blade is curved to follow the rightside contour of your waistline so this spike tomahawk is streamlined to your body. Most folks carry it inside the waist band on right side, 3:00 to 4:00 position.

Kind of an interesting weapon like mentioned above. It would have come in handy when a guy came at me with a broken off beer bottle back in the 70's in a bar.

Thank you for your comment--I agree. This tomahawk provides a lot of defensive options--not just lethal effects.
It's the weight of a lot of big folder knives but longer, so it is nimble enough for defensive blocks.
The butt of the handle comes to a 3/8" wide chisel tip of hard hickory for very focused hammer fist blows.
The talon blade is like a meathook on a stick. Can do bad things to an opponent's forearms, and, when placed behind the knee joint, can topple a man in a hurry.
 
Just got mine in and couldn't be happier, great tomahawk and it's literally light, I have fixed blades and a few folders that feel heavier.

Superb quality.
