Spam - the FOOD

What's in spam?

You don't want to know :D

The labeled ingredients in the classic variety of Spam are chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added, salt, water, modified potato starch as a binder, and sodium nitrite as a preservative. Spam's gelatinous glaze, or aspic, forms from the cooling of meat stock. The product has become part of many jokes and urban legends about mystery meat, which has made it part of pop culture and folklore.

Did SPAM ever come in a foil pack?

I'm not sure if you mean real foil/foil...
but the new single servings are a foil like package (shiny on the inside)

As I said...I've started keeping the singles in all my bags...
but also in the pantry. sometimes I want to fry some up but not eat a whole can...
rest of family isn't so enamored with it.

I could not stand it, until some friends fried it and gave it to me with eggs. Pretty damn good. For straight out of the can, give me corned beef - yum, yum.

Tactical Bacon, Its the only way to go! It has a 10 year shelf life.

Honestly, I've never tried this, but I laughed when I saw it. If it didn't cost about $15 a can I'd be tempted to get some.

As to the cruise ship. I can't believe any one built a ship that size without redundant systems.

Spam...I never cared much for it. Though it is edible and is a fairly cheap long term storage product.

As far as inclusion in my BOB goes it is too heavy to be worth the room. I concentrated on dehydrated foods due to weightconsiderations.

Spam's really not so bad, once I finally brought myself to try it it tasted a lot better than what I thought it would. I like it fried but even straight out of the can it's ok, though there is a subtle hint of dog food flavour... Ok maybe not so subtle, but it's good enough that I'd eat it again.

Funny, I had Spam and eggs tonight for supper. And yup , I've ate dog food before. Spam is better by far.
Sometimes , I like baking the whole loaf . Spam is sliceable, whereas it's brother , canned corned beef ( the brasil stuff) not so much so. Mist is right, it's much better cooked, especially fried.

Throw out your Altoids tin and use a Spam can instead :D

Coolest hat I ever seen was on an old boy in a mall
Blue with yellow Spam logo on the front, just like the can
Loved it but when I looked on the spam webpage( yep they have one)
Sold out
Sometimes life isnt fair I tell ya
