Up for sale, Yanagi-ba Japanese style sashimi knife in 52100 and redwood burl Wa 'D' handle configuration.
Handle is 136 mm (5.35 inches)
This blade is 292 mm in length (11.5 inches) and hardened to 63 Rockwell. The blade is impeccably flat on the urasuki grind. It is not however finish sharpened. It is roughly where it needs to be, with a little more metal removal remaining to set the final bevel / edge.
The urasuki was ground via a 14 inch wheel and has been leveled to 1000 grit. Very flat.
Spine is 3.44 mm with virtually no taper until the bevel begins to meet the tip.
Blade height is 30.5 mm at heel.
The urasuki was ground via a 14 inch radius wheel by hand.
This is a beautiful knife with great geometry.
You may want the ricasso cut out a bit further for finger clearance, and I am happy to do this on request before shipping.
