Description
SP36GPGY: C36GPGY CRU-WEAR Military Gray G10 Sprint Run
Spyderco

Spyderco regularly offers short-term, limited number releases called Sprint Runs. Sprint Runs allow knife enthusiasts to experience their favorite knife model with a different or unique blade steel, handle material or color. The Spyderco Military Model lends itself to variation making it an ideal candidate for a Sprint Run.

Crucuble Industries is known for their performance automotive, aerospace, defense, and consumer-products steels. CRU-WEAR® is an air hardening tool steel possessing an excellent combination of high wear resistance and toughness. This grade is readily machined in the annealed condition (using parameters similar to D2) and exhibits minimal distortion in hardening. The normal heat treatment is compatible to a wide variety of surface coatings such as nitriding, tin coating, etc. CRU-WEAR excels in applications that require higher wear resistance than D2, greater toughness than M2 high speed steel, or in applications that require both. The combination of wear resistance, compressive strength, and exceptional toughness make CRU-WEAR a great choice for a wide variety of demanding tooling applications. Its edge retention ability, ease in machining to a fine edge, and consistent heat-treatability make it perfect for a Spyderco Sprint Run.

The C36GPGY Military Sprint has a conventional Military Model blade-shape made of CRU-WEAR that is Plain Edge and ground-flat with an oversized blade hole. Machined into the spine and choil is jimping that prevents the knife slipping forward or backward in the hand while forcefully cutting or sawing.

The blade is teamed with a gray G-10 handle and a Michael Walker LinerLock. The lock's liner is nested/recessed into the scale for greater lock strength without bulky internal handle liners.

Open back-spacers create a gap exposing the folder's inner workings and make maintenance and cleaning effortless while ensuring reliable performance even in the dirtiest, harshest environments. A contoured metal clip is set for right-hand tip-down carry.

Sprint Runs
A Spyderco Sprint Run is defined as a limited edition production of any Spyderco product in a configuration different than what has been previously produced. It can include changes in the handle color, materials, blade steel, coatings, etc.

The quantity of each Sprint Run is generally 600 or 1,200 pieces, which is determined by Spyderco.
