Recommendation? Spyderco Tenacious or Kershaw Emerson CQC-9k

I frequently edc the resilience (bigger brother to the tenacious).

Very good EDC. Great ergos, solid lockup. Built well.

I like the Spyder hole.

I also regularly rotate in the titanium Byrd Carra Carra. Solid, light, thin, compact, titanium handle scales....

I've lost my Delica somewhere....

Of the two listed, I'd go Spyderco too.

Hate to throw a wrench in the conversation but have you looked at an Ontario Rat 1 in D2 steel? At the price range you are looking at, that is my go to recommendation. You lose G10 scales but upgrade to D2 steel.

Kershaw also has some Emerson collaborations in D2 steel for another $10 or so.

As I was reading this thread , I kept thinking about this very post that I might make.

I like my Tenacious quite a bit. But my Ontario Rat 1 with a D2 blade has really grown on me and it is a better hard use work blade. Very well made for the money. Very sturdy.

Never put a zip tie through a Spydie hole. You may be mistaken for a Leet 0perat0r and attract the vengeance of the Invisible Bush Ninjas who perpetually stalk all Leet 0perat0rs.

If by chance you're already a Leet 0perat0r and are unafraid of Invisible Bush Ninjas, please disregard the previous advice.

Back on topic: you made the right choice by going with the Tenacious. It's a great Gateway Knife (drug).

I gave away my Kershaw. I like the looks, and large size, but it is has the typical characteristics of cheap overseas knives. Heavy, sticky opening, and inconsistent lockup %. IMO the Byrd line is sticky, as well.
The Tenacious is a great $45 knife, and has been super popular since at least 2008. I love the wide leaf shaped blades. The G-10, fit and finish IMO is nearly perfect like regular Spydercos. I have 4 different versions (colors) of the Tenacious. A few have plasticky aftermarket handles, like the Rat.
