The end is near... Survival Keychain appears to have not survived as their domain name is having problems. Anyone know what is going on? Liked their product: keychain with Photon, Spy capsules, Swiss-tech Utili-key, micro compass, whistle, etc.

There were two models. A delux, with everything, and a regular for the unenthusiastic survivor.

I hope all is well and that they are back soon.

The site says that the domain expired on August 15, 2005, exactly two weeks ago. Perhaps they forgot the date when their domain would expire? Maybe they'll renew it tomorrow.

I hope that they renew the site. I'm interested in what they have to offer.

I've seen a lot of this going on. Some thing on the Web ARE free, but domains are NOT. People forget they must renew. I don't think people are notified when they should renew, either. They will wake up in an awful hurry when revenue drops to zero.

I hope their back up soon, I love that place!

Truthfully, if they're not paying attention to their domain name registration, that means they're not making money from the site anyway, so they're probably gone for good. Don't get your hopes up.

Hmmmmmm.... If I knew which state they operated from I might be able to locate a phone number for them using http://www.anywho.com/index.html

It appears that the renewal, annual, fee for their domain name is $4. This internet is terrific, Google has become a necessity, but when the link no longer connects you are hosed. I can't even remember all of the tools, was there a p38 can opener, on their keyrings and its only been a month or so since I last visited their site (bot 2 spy capsules).

OK. So, answering my own question, I dug out my old receipt for the spy capsules and got their corporate name (Kochan Consulting Group, Inc.) and Googled this:

http://www.kcginc.com/

Kochan Consulting Group, Inc. provides IT services. I sent email asking about S. Keychain and will post any response. They have a bunch of sites, blowguns etc, and only S.K. is DOA.

Here is a survival keychain:

That looks a really useful package in a very small size. Small enough to take with you all the time.

He used to post here and on Candlepowerforums. Do a search for username dkochan.

This email, from the "horse's mouth," just in:

"Hello Stephen,
Thank you for contacting. I goofed up and forgot to renew the
SurvivalKeychain.com. The SurvivalKeychain.com website will be up in a
couple of days. You can call me to place an order on the phone.

Excellent news! :)

For some reason, The Powers That Be don't see the need to remind you about renewing domain names.

I need to be reminded and prompted about everything.

Back in the black! I placed an order with Survival Keychain just this PM without any problema: glow in dark mini F40 whistle, swiss key, and a couple of aluminum capsules. Building a ring for my honey bunny. She says she wouldn't use it but I see the Photon I gave her months ago still on her old keyring.

Nope, it is not. :(
Stepa, if you've tried going to the site, recently, you may have a copy of the web page when it was waiting for domain renewal, stored upon your computer. Try the above link, again, and when the page has finished loading, click your browser's Refresh button, and you should see the working web site.

No luck for myself either. :( I've tried clearing history, deleting cookies, and deleting files in IE. I've also tried Mozilla and Netscape with no luck. I keep getting the same old "Expired Domain" page.

I tried http://www.survivalkeychain.com/, http://www.survivalkeychain.com/default.asp , http://www.survivalkeychain.com/build.asp (which the above link points to), and http://www.survivalkeychain.com/* (* = index.htm or index.html) for good measure. Still no luck. Any other suggestions or is the site truly down?
