Hey guys,

I just couldn't help myself and ordered one of these babies. I used to have an XXLT, but found the lighter to be somewhat unattractive knowing full well that it would probably go dead someday, so I sold it, I'm wishing I hadn't now with it being a collectible : /

I found the XAVT for what I think is an INCREDIBLE price considering everywhere else on the web it is 60+ dollars more. (all sold out now FYI)

190 bucks!!! :D :D :D

In the next week or so I will be taking it out in the woods with me and doing a fun little review with it since I can't find ANYTHING about this knife other than for sale listings.

cya next week with a mini review!

190 bucks ,,,,ouch,,,waiting on your review though,,,,should be fun/interesting,,,

I see two. Man that's funny. They had six after I ordered mine lol. SO who bought one besides me?? Did you Intrepid? If so, you should post some pics of what you managed to use it for!

Its on its way. Admittedly, this one in particular will take an ocean of rationalizing. How do these sound? ". . . lots of people complained that the SwissChamp was too clumsy to be practical, but I've found mine useful." or "Honey, Victorinox only makes this one 'for collectors'". I can see its a lost cause.

It's going to be interesting trying to find a carrying pouch? Any ideas?

If it arrives by this weekend, I'll post some pics trying it out.

My fiance is asking me already just what in the hell I'm thinking considering carrying this thing around and paying almost 200.00. I told her like you "It's for serious collectors, and I'm a serious collector" lol :foot:

I have found a solution that works for my XLT, so I'll try this one the same way. I received a Victorinox belt clip for my birthday from her and it keeps the knife suspended in my pocket. I don't even feel it.

Handy little item there and cheap too. Like 7 bucks on Ebay.

I've been thinking about the watch and other funtions like the LED on the XAVT and I think they will prove to make the knife worth carrying beyond the other plethora of tools. Esp for one who likes to hike. It's not that heavy! Mine should be here Friday.

What - you mean that's it?

Several tools are duplicates. Assume the idea of the second set of bits is so that you can replace the second set with different micro (4mm) bit sizes that you use often - such as being able to include the T6 that's needed for some Benchmades ( http://www.wihatools.com/759_microsets.htm ). In other words, instead of having 8 different bit sizes, you could have 11 or 14 different sizes. Still site unseen, but guess the two magnifying lenses are in-line.

See following video clip that shows what appears to be an XAVT being made: http://www.victorinox.com/index.cfm?site=victorinox.ch&page=118&lang=E Then click "About Us" then click "On TV"

Ok, so Friday I got mine in and I must say I'm very very impressed with this knife. It's very robust, built nice and solid even for such a big piece. I would expect no less from Victorinox though.

Here it is right out of the box with my pocket clip attached, it rides nicely in my pocket. The weight of the knife is something to get used to, but with the pocket clip I hardly even notice it.

The flashlight is ingenious. I can turn the light on and pop out the big blade and see what I'm cutting in the dark....BRILLIANT!

The knife comes with A LOT of tools, I could build a small house with this thing, or tear one down :D

I went for a hike today, and brought the XAVT along with. I live in a low flat area at about 1240 ft. Check out the Altimeter. Quite a difference in elevation.

When I got home I decided I would see if I could start a fire. Unfortunately I was stopped by dinner plans before I could finish, but I did manage to shave some kindling with the pruning blade and make some smoke with the mag glass.

This wouldn't have been possible without the help of my best buddy:

My thoughts in regards to the size and functionality of this knife are basically, yes it is big, yes it is heavy, BUT if you can see past or around these two variables there's one hell of a gigantic knife waiting to service your every need from a multi-tool. I find it quite functional and even practical for EDC if you don't mind a bulge in your pocket.

Dreamhawk - Great series of pictures!! Are the two magnifying glasses the same? Are you planning on keeping the duplicate bits or replace one set with other size bits? The flashlight appears to be unique. Is the XAVT the only Victorinox knife with this one?

The flashlight is also available on the Vic Spartan-lite and the Huntsman-lite. I have the Spartan-lite, thats a great little led. however even thought it is technically only one layer thick that layer is the same thickness as the scissors and saw layers put together. Still i do like it.
I'm waiting for them to put the light in the regular swisschamp. That will give me an excuse to buy another swisschamp.lol.
The xavt does look cool though!

Great pics by the way!
I wish manufacturers would post pics as good on their websites.
Nowadays like a lot of people much (actually most) of my knife-buying is done over the internet, therefore good pics can make or break a sale.
I've seen "amateur" knife pics here that outshine most of the ones used by knife manufacturers/retailers/sellers.

Hmmm the translucent scales on the XAVT seem to have a pebbled/textured surface, thats looks new. How does it feel?

Thanks for the kind words on the pics guys, it was a lot of fun throwing this together.

Intrepid, as Tholiver said the flashlight is available on other models, and I'm pretty sure it is the same. It's a very neat feature for sure. The two mag glasses are different powers. One has that plastic liner and the other doesn't. I wonder why they made the one without a liner? Well anyways the clear one is 3x and the classic grey lined one is 5x. I read that somewhere on a website, can't remember where.

I would LOVE to buy all the extra 4mm bits, but the only place I've found is the link you provided and MAN those are expensive (coming from a guy that just dropped 200 on a swiss army knife) :D I will break down and buy them eventually, only a matter of time, but till then I guess I have a set of bits to abuse and a set to keep "pretty"

The handles on the knife are not exactly "knobby" but the plastic is a lot rougher compared to normal polished cellidor handles. I can't really explain how they feel except that when I scratch a normal cellidor scale with my thumb it feels smooth, and the XAVT's scales feel rough like a fine grit sand paper almost. Oder one and you'll see!!! lol

We're gonna start a new club the SC XAVT club! But seriously if you guys haven't already jump over to SOSAKONLINE.COM and join up with the secret order...great stuff. I'll be looking forward to your pics Intrepid!
