Respect to him for always finding a way to put a knife or two in movies he's affiliated with.

Yeah, and getting them for free.

From jackknife:
He tried to stiff Bill Moran for a half dozen of Bill's ST-23 fighters, which was his first choice for the First Blood movie. He visited Bill's shop in Middletown Maryland, (quite a story of his character in itself) and told Bill that he'd like 6 of them to use in the filming of the movie. Bill said fine, and he'd get to work on them immediately. But Bill wanted 50% down to start with, and Stallone told him that he wasn't going to pay Bill, that Bill was going to make them for free for the privilege of having Moran knives in his movie. What Bill told Stallone was not as polite, and Stallone left Bill Moran's shop a disappointed man. He couldn't understand why Moran wasn't falling on his knees to kiss his a$$. Bill Moran never seemed to care that his friend Jimmy Lile got the job. Moran was already backordered the rest of his life.

On the day that Stallone visited Bill Moran's shop, a few of Bill's friends were hanging out there. This was a normal thing, as Bill's shop was sort of a gathering place of like minded folks. A big towncar pulls up outside, and a guy, one of the body guards for Stallone, walks into Bill's shop and tells everyone there that they have to leave, that Mr. Stallone is here to talk to Mr. Moran. Bill took a bit of offense at an unknown person telling his friends to leave, and told the bodyguard that it was his shop, and he, Bill, would say who comes and goes. If Mr. Stallone wanted to come in, that was okay, but if he didn't, that was okay as well. Bodyguard went back to the car and reported this to the passenger in the backseat. Stallone came into the shop, and ignored everyones greeting like a rude a$$, and then propositioned Bill. Things went south from there.

In life you get what you can negotiate not what you deserve. I'm sure if Mr. Moran was just starting out with no name he might have taken the offer but (lol) that obviously wasn't the case.

As far as Sly's stance on guns goes, I get it. Don't get me wrong I own guns and like'em a lot. I don't like them as much as I do knives but they are fun. But if I had to give up one it'd be guns. I would also have no problem giving up my guns for the sake of saving lives but only of no one else had them either and there was a 0% chance of them ever getting into this county(not likely).

I don't care what kind of knives he collects.He's a hypocritical ass-hat & a lousy actor.

"Look at what's happening in America's inner-cities. If our hopeless legal system continues going the same liberal direction, there will be anarchy before long. We need one person in an influential position to stand up and tell the truth about gun control lobbies, the death penalty and that our criminal justice system basically stinks."
Sylvester Stallone, interview in Cinefantastique magazine, June 1995

"until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you're gonna have... It really is pathetic... We're livin' in the Dark Ages over there."
Sylvester Stallone, March 28, 1998

"I know we use guns in films," but insisted the time has come "to be a little more accountable and realize that this is an escalating problem that’s eventually going to lead to, I think, urban warfare."
Sylvester Stallone on Access Hollywood, June 8, 1998

"It [2nd Amendment] has to be stopped, and someone really has to go on the line, a certain dauntless political figure, and say, ‘It’s ending, it’s over, all bets are off. It’s not 200 years ago, we don’t need this anymore, and the rest of the world doesn’t have it. Why should we?"
Sylvester Stallone on Access Hollywood, June 8, 1998

For some reason every time Sylvester Stallone is mentioned all I can remember is coming home from elementary school one day with my dad laying on the couch recovering from a vasectomy watching Cliffhanger. Oh yeah, we had just got a new 'big screen' too. You know the giant box kind, I think it was 42 inches. This was probably 18yrs ago.

I'd like to nominate this for most irrelevant post of the year. :what:

Ever since he stated that law enforcement should go door to door & take everyones guns away,i have no respect for him any more. His whole career revolves around guns, has become a multi millionare from it,& he has made some of the most violent gun related movies in history.

That guy on the couch should be me next year. I hope im the same man ! Ahhhh

I love Sly and his flicks. And appreciate the use of blades. Go Rocky!

When I was a kid I used to go to his gun club in Brentwood, Ca. I think his brother officially owned it but he was there quite often and I think he was the money behind it.

My wife is friends with his wife, Jennifer Flavin. They went to EL Camino HS, in Woodland Hills, CA. I met Sylvester a few times, and yes he is really into knives. I also met him in Vegas at a knife show in the late 80's and he was all over the place looking at everything. He got into knives while making Rambo since Jimmy Lile made the knife used in the movie. Last time I saw him was in 2006 at my wife and Jennifer's HS reunion.....he just dropped her off and did not attend. He is not big on public events.

A jerk-wad who likes knives is still a jerk-wad. The fact that someone likes knives does not make them any less of a jerk-wad.

It takes a lot more for me to respect someone than simply liking knives or deciding to feature knives in their movies.

amen!!!

He is a hypocritical douche bag...but so are most actors, Hollywood seems to rot their mind. Its tough because I still like to watch movies but at the same time can't stand the actors...

Stallone did pretty well for himself considering he started out making porn movies. The story from Jackknife is interesting and not one I remember reading prior to this thread. When the first Rambo movie was made, Bill Moran was still not what he became in the 90's. Maybe he was back ordered and maybe not. Don't care. But the last 20 years, he pretty much could pick and choose his work load. As I recall, when he was in the hospitial prior to his death, the nurses had never seen so many non-family people coming to visit a patient.

I have no patience for hypocrites and Stallone is one of them. He made his movies touting violence and then essentially favors eliminating the 2nd Amendment.

I was in Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai) and went to a custom knifemaker called Piak Bowie to pick up a couple of locally made customs.

On the wall was a photo of Sylvester with a custom knife he had got the local knifemaker to make for him while he was up there filming. He was posing with the knifemaker and it was a nice shot.

I thought that was cool.
