I have a firefighter friend of mine looking for some knives for his job. My first recommendation would be a Military the next would be a Rescue. If he goes into a burning building the min. temp he could see on his equiment would be 250 to 400 deg F.. Could these knives handle material take that temp or higher without turning into a dripping melting mess? My next option would be a stainless Endura.

Thanks,
Tom

A firefighter friend of mine that is usually on these forums carries a Military everywhere he goes. I don't think he has ever had a problem with it melting. I think I remember that he has carried a zytel handle Spydie without any problems also.

I think they're now discontinued, but if he cares about a sheepsfoot style tip, you could look for a Mariner, which was basically a Rescue with stainless handles. They're sometimes to be found in the For Sale forum, or you might look on E-bay.
