#notnathan but I recently received a BFK with black steel fasteners - the coating is black oxide (I think) and seems to wear off fairly easily with use. Not a problem really for a user, but don’t expect the black to stay uniform forever.

I like the practicality of steel fasteners, but kinda curious - do the blue/purple/gold color Ti fasteners wear off with use?

I’ve got all blue Ti hardware on my CPKs. The one side of my FK3 have turned more purple on me. I was thinking it was because that side can rest against my side while I’m carrying it. I thought maybe my skin oils were the reason but I’ve carried my other CPKs the same way and they are ok so now I’m not sure. I’ve tried cleaning them but no luck. They are also the newest set of blue Ti for me.

Are you streaking through the neighborhood with your CPK attached to your naked body again?

The outside oxide layer will wear due to abrasion, UV light over time. So actually “cleaning” them is just wearing them more. I think🤷‍♂️🤓

Not this time of year. That’s more of a summer time activity I enjoy 😉

I’ve read a few different things about it. I used a microfiber cloth which I’ve done on the other ones with no ill effects. I’ve been a mechanic for 20 years so I’m thinking I got something on me chemical wise that I then transferred to the hardware possibly. I’ll probably just swap the hardware around and see if the blue ones change a bit as well and even out a bit lol

Before I finalize my chopper order ... I wanted to get a definite answer about whether or not the scales on the new Light Chopper and the MC/Standard Chopper are going to be interchangable?

If I recall correctly the MC scales weren't an exact fit on the old LC.

The new LC, the MC, SC and HC can all wear the same scales

We stopped using the Black oxide because the adhesion of the oxide on the stainless fastener was not very good.

If you have your heart set on some, you can request them and if Jo has them she'll provide them.

OG LC scales were their own thing.

New LC, MC, SC, HDMC, BC, HC, and Behemother are interchangeable.

I was also wondering about the SC vs LC scales. Does interchangable mean they are the same exact spec, or does it just mean they will fit? For example, SDFK and HDFK scales are interchangable, but they're thinner on the SDFK than the HDFK. Wondering if the SC scales will be thinner because of the thicker blade stock? (Only asking because I'm considering buy both, and some extra scales.)

Only Nathan can answer that accurately as they don’t exist yet - at least in the wild.

I will say that MC and HDMC scales are the exact same scales despite the difference in blade stock thickness.
