The Case for the Copperhead

I'm right with you, John, it's a very special knife to me. And another small point in its favor is that the clip's nail nick is centered in the "peak" of the clip. 3⅞ to 4 inches has always been my favorite size to carry.

Here's my dad's old Boker Copperhead. He passed in 2005 and this was, as far as I know, his EDC for many years. He didn't pamper his tools, as you can see, he used them. He obviously pried a few things with both blades, as they are slightly bent. I've cleaned it with some mineral oil and "oiled the joints". That's all I plan on doing to it.
Nevertheless, I'll cherish this one and make sure it gets passed on appropriately.

Somewhere, I have an interesting but not that well finished Steel Warrior small Copperhead Jack, an odd knife but its small size 3.25" or 3 3/8" make a lot of sense. Quality is not up to RR standards I regret to say.

Also have a large Weidmannsheil Stag Copperhead that is a locking knife, the secondary Sheepfoot unlocks the master spear, interesting arrangement.

A.G. Russell under the Cattaraugus imprint made a knife with that type of lock(pressing the pen to release the main), he even included a Philips type screwdriver on the spring side. Very nice looking knives, long been on my “to buy” list. Fortunately, there are still examples being offered, if at somewhat inflated pricing.
Thanks, Neal

Nearly as soon as this thread was posted, I, on a whim purchased this Queen copperhead. The price point was right and the history of Queen has some highlights in my family.

My emotions are mixed on the build quality of this knife, I’m extremely pleased to have it, but it leaves a lot to be desired at the same time. I’m thinking a full review should be added to a different thread...

I love the Case Copperlock and carried one for many years. It was the perfect watchpocket knife and served as a squirrel skinning, trout gutting dream. That knife was a personal favorite until it’s untimely demise to a reclining chair. I’ve since coveted many old redbone Case Copperheads, but have yet to own and carry one. Until then, this Queen will have to do.

The skinning blade reminds me of the Case mini hunter pattern.
