If you were going to assemble a knife collection from scratch today and wanted to include all the major production knife maker's "greatest hits", what would you include? The knives should be in production now or at least easy to get. This is not an all time greatest hits list, just a modern hits list. I am mainly talking about single bladed one hand open and close knives with pocket clips. Taht is what I consider a "modern" knife.

I am sort of trying to do just this. Here are a few I think should be included:

Spyderco: Endura, Delica, Police, and the Military.

CRKT: M-16

Ka-Bar: Dozier

Al Mar: Sere 2000

I promise, no mention of the various size and shapes of Sebenza.

How about the BM AFCK?

Using your criteria, in no particular order:

Spyderco Delica/Endura
Al Mar SERE 2000
Emerson CQC-7
CRK Sebenza
Buck/Mayo TNT
Victorinox One Hand Trekker
A.G. Russell One Hand Knife
Camillus EDC

Paul

buck alpha-hunter fixed blade with rose wood scales and ats-34 blade

i love this knife, tough as nails and quite the looker.

Uhm, hello! Where have you guys been the last 3 months as the manix-cheer squad has been singing praises?

I'd say the spyderco manix for sure.

Benchmade, it'd have to either be the 710, 806, or skirmish maybe?

Kerhsaw has to be the Leek.

Al Mar: Eagle Talon, with thumbstud and without, Warrior, Shiva; both custom and production, Fang I and II.

Benchmark-Rolox

Benchmade-Crawford Leopard, Bogusewski Spike, Auto Spike, AFCK, McHenry/Williams Axis Lock 710, Pardue model B.

Beretta-Airlight, Busfield folder.

Boker-Any Cera-Titan folder, Kalashnikov folder.

Buck-Second the mayo S30V, add the Bucklock, Sawby style.

Camillus-Robo, EDC talonite.

Chris Reeve-Sebenza Classic

Cold Steel-Folding Tanto(pick your style)

David Boye-Dendritic Cobalt Folder

Gerber-Silver Knight, Paul knife, Touche belt buckle, Airlight, the original only, Applegate Fairbairn folder.

Someone else take over, my hands are getting tired. :D

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

The Benchmade AFCK (a Pat Crawford design) and the Benchmade 970 (the production version of Emerson's CQC-7). These more than any other are the knives that Benchmade rode to the top.

I'd also elect the Benchmade Model 42, the knife that, more than any other, lit the fuse on the modern Bali-Song revival. No clip, but it is made of Titanium.

Microtech Halo
CRKT M16
Spyderco Military
Kershaw Random Task
Buck 110

Don't you mean Chris Caracci design?

Sorry, yes.

Mr. Crawford has, of course, done many other excellent designs.

My mistake.

There is no excuse for not owning and enjoying a Spyderco Calypso Jr. so I will add that to the list.

Chris
