The HI Catoosa Convention. Time to get serious and sign up.

>>>"we feel it is unfair to be dated, on top of everything else<<<<

How true. So sorry. Now is the time of your well deserved "Golden Years" where the fruit of your loins should take care of you, repaying the debt of a wonderous upbringing, allowing you to live in comfort and happiness. Not callously marking you as a senior citizen...

Come out to SD to live in proximity to your youngest, who'll gladly make you maccaroni and cheese, spaggetti, and maybe once a month stir fry. You can play with doggies extrodinaire. You can fiddle, fondle and work on all sharp objects to your hearts desire. Go shoot little prarie critters (or are they endangered now???) every Spring/Summer/Fall. Relax during the cold winter months and surf the web to your heart's content. There are even lots of Liberals out here who need coverting...

Gun permits are obtainable for $5.00 and the time it takes to fill out the application. You can pick your location environment... Cow/horse people, University people, Casino/Mining people (soon to be Casino/scientific types), or Rapid Cityites... (I'd go for the Cow/Horse people)...

I know I'll be well off here in a couple of years, a rich wedding photographer, which will allow you and Mom to relocate to the wonderfully beautious Northern Black Hills... either that or I will hit the lottery... same result.

:D:D:D

I'm in. Details to be worked out later. A cookout, by all means. I'm sure we'll all be eager to help with the labor, especially if some of the food needs cutting, chopping, hacking, dicing, vaporizing. And I'm bringing a bunch of beer from New Belgium Brewery, arguably the best small brewery in the country.

And Yvsa or somebody else down there in OK, hurry up and tell Jim about the fishing. That might be just enough persuasion to tip the balance--if it's proper to use the words "balanced" and "Jim" in the same sentence.

I asked my boss today and he said it should not be a problem if I take off Sept 22-23!!! I'm pretty sure I can go!! How far is it to Catoosa from Ft. Collins Co? I will be driving.

:
Then you can go to http://www.mapblast.com
and enter your address as the start of the trip and ours as the destination.
Mapblast will give you complete driving instructions right to our front door.:D
That's the way I get around the country and it works well for me.

But sometimes knowing a slightly different route that you can go then you can add the city where you want to start from and get a new route.
When we went to California I didn't want to got thru LA so I put San Bernardino as a destination and then Palmdale and then the final destination and I got routed the way I wanted to go.
Pretty simple way to work it.:D

I'll be there, along with my family and Dad,My Bro and a few friends.
Sounds great! My B-Day is Sept.15 and this would be a great present.

There's going to be some road weary folks but I don't look at a 750 miles drive the way I did 40 years ago. When I had a 400hp muscle car, gas was 20 cents a gallon and most speed limits were reasonable and proper 750 miles was easy.

Chris, can you and Mochi team up to share expenses and driving?

Florida folks I found round trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Tulsa for about $150. There's a variety of different schedules available.

I don't think there's direct routing. I think you have to go to Dallas or Houston first if I recall correctly.

I'll have to recheck to be sure.

If people are flying, we should all try and make arrangements to rent a car. Whatcha guys think??? I say this because I'm not old enough to rent a car. :( This way we can split the rental fees, and I'm sure Yvsa would much prefer to have one or two mini-vans/SAVs at his place than 10 different cars. ;-)

The airport is not that far from Yvsa's place and I think we may have enough cars and drivers available so we can pick people up at the curb if we cordinate things properly. Don't rent a car if you don't have to.

Wow!

If only I could make it. This sounds fantastic. I can almost smell the barbecue!

But I will not be able to. I can barely make it to work some days. I have a really nasty form of arthritis that has settled in in the last few months and some days I have to use a cane to get around. The doctors say it's about as bad as they've seen in a 46 year old man. I never in a million years would have thought that at this age, I'd be hobbled up and have to miss so much time at work. Got a boatload of meds to take every day and I'm wondering when I'll see some results. Pain pills too. I hate painkillers 'cuz I know if I take them regularly, I'll depend on them and become some kind of addict.

2001 has not turned out so good for us. The wife had some employment problems and I have missed a lot of time, and we aren't doing so good financially. Not to the real serious point yet, but believe me, we have changed to a very frugal lifestyle.

I'll be with you guys in spirit at the convention. Some pics would be cool!

I'm not posting this to get sympathy, we'll get through it. I just thought it was about time I told you guys where I've been and why I've been scarce. I apologize for just "disappearing like I did, but I fell into a sort of period of self-pity that I think I am now over.

:
Rog I also have a bad form of arthritis, Stills Disease, and use a cane or walking stick regularly.
I also take a lot of painkillers and a pretty strong one at that (40 mgs Oxycontin and 10 mgs of Baclofen 3 x a day with Percoset for break through pain) and I have for quite some time now.
I can tell you from experience that people with chronic pain do Not get addicted to their pain meds.
If the pain stopped overnight I would gladly never take another pain med or muscle relaxer.
Hang in there bud and take your meds.
Not only do they make you feel better they give you at least some of your self esteem back.
I know!!!!

If you want or need to talk about it please feel free to e-mail me.

I wish I could make it, but school and distance will keep me away. Oh well, maybe one day there'll be a Konvention in the Midwest area (hint hint ;)).
