The Hunted - Benicio Del Toro?

Very interesting, Mr. Beck. What is your conception of the uses of the knife and the various sections of the blade?

Check out www.beckknives.com for some more info on this knife and it's uses. I've been happy with mine so far and look forward to putting it to more uses as the fall hunting seasons get started. I'm sure Dave would also be happy to elaborate.

are the dimensions on the two knives the same? maybe it was just camera angle, but i thought the one in the movie was a little longer and slimmer than the one brown made. i recently purchased a brown. i saw it at the shop and was impressed, but upon further review, i'm actually not to fond of it. it sits under the seat of my truck. never been used. just oil the blade every once in a while. it MR. Beck's is a better version, then i might have to part with my current piece and get one of his.

i saw the movie on a plane on the way to visit my parents. Since I didnt have expectations and there was nothing else to watch I thought it was ok. the knife forging scene though made me wonder. Plus if del toro was so good why was he always caught?anways it was ok.

lol, yes if del toros acting carreer fizzles, he can make some custom knives...........they seemed to be really good at cobbling them up in primitive conditions, i dont think anyone is gonna be able to make a knife w/junk laying by the side of a river (ie rear leaf springs for steel, rocks/junk steel for hammers, etc

it was an ok movie, one ok to see once, dont think i'll buy the CD for future viewing though. most knife nuts will like it for one viewing like me i think, but it is a green movie, anti hunting, but if ya watch and dont try to really figure it out, its entertainment for a couple hours.

PS- still think it was better than tears of the sun, i just couldnt get into that one, i was pulling for the rebels

ABout 2 years ago I saw photos of a knifemaker at a primitive rendesvous forge a knife out of metal scraps with no real tools, just junk he found laying around. He even started the fire by friction, just like Del Toro in "The Hunted". It was amazing.

i've seen some debate about the tracker. Brown made it Beck made it. This one was used in the movie that was was used here or there. Now, I'm no pro, but I have the TOPS tracker, and in the book they give with it, it was (the knife in the movie) made by Chip McConnell. Itried to look him up on the net, but I wasn't able to come up with anything. Anyone know anything about him or have pictures of any of his work? Or is Brown just trying to avoid accrediting Beck with the knife?

I believe that Tom Brown would tell you Gumby made the knife rather than give Dave credit. Brown said that Chip McConnel made ALL the knives in the film, including the props. This is not true, the prop department (department meaning more than one person) constructed the props. The props were made of rubber and aluminum and were all copies and castings of Dave Beck's knife. The knife they used for close ups in the film was Tom Brown's personal knife that Dave Beck made for him!

It amazes me that he now says that Dave didn't make the knife when in "Blade" magazine he said "The knife you see in the film was made by my friend Dave Beck."
