The Quiet Carry “The Nine” is the BEST EDC knife I have ever held

I must be living under a rock lol…
Since a couple folks mentioned it already, what is so incredibly special about Vanax? I know the corrosion resistance is excellent, and the edge retention is on par with S45VN & Elmax.
I’m just not sure what real world benefits it has over those other stainless steels (or 20CV)…? Easier to sharpen??

Well, CPM 20CV is an excellent knife steel. It's one of the best steels available for an EDC.

I like Vanax because it is not just stainless, but super stainless. That's an advantage because it means the newly sharpened edge doesn't degrade as much before use, caused in large part by oxidation. That oxidation can reduce sharpness by 20 BESS in the first couple hours, according to Vadim Kraichuk in his book, "Knife Deburring: Science behind the lasting razor edge."

Vanax is also tougher than most powder stainless steels, even Elmax -- Magnacut being the major exception. That toughness gives it better edge stability than most stainless steels. I use my Rukus 610 with a Vanax blade for chopping trail branches. It does much better than steels such as S30V and AUS8, and that's with a custom edge profile of 15 dps and a BTE width of 15 thousandths.

The other thing I really like is how fine grained the steel is. It's easy to sharpen to a high level of keenest. And it has excellent edge retention.

It's just a wonderful EDC steel.

Increased toughness over 20CV/M390 is the big one for me. I’ve had 20CV (from other makers) chip or the tip break off pretty easily in the past.

Good news for me, bad news for everyone that wanted mine: QC is going to replace it with the variant I wanted.
