The Sardinian connection.

It's a very good price.
I can put you in contact with very good knife makers as Davide Steri, Roberto Serra , Gigi Sechi or Alessandro Sarritzu.
Some members of this forum have knives from Davide and seems very happy of it .
Send me a message and I will give you his email address. If you don't speak Italian I can translate. Davide is a very good friend and I talk everyday with him.

I trust your expertise of the knives over there. I’ll want to see examples first obviously of their work, but I’m a recent fan of Pattada knives and Romano knives. The dueling knives of antiquity especially

I resurrect this thread if you please. These knives from Sardinia are so compelling. Sadly there are very many beautiful examples that have now been lost from these pages. But I know that given a bit of time, our friends Âchillepattada Âchillepattada , waynorth waynorth , @Corto_Malt, L lambertiana , @Llasi, among others, can update with their own beauties and perhaps start a rush to Sardinia for more knives for these pages and for our pockets. :)

BUT FIRST - a newbie question. Could someone please explain to me the difference between ~

DORGALESA • PATTADAESA • RESOLZA ?

Of course, a photographic comparison would be most helpful  The differences seem subtle to my eye and so I wonder if it is all about regional nomenclature or size or ????

Thank you.

Are you referring to this one? I had it in my suit pocket yesterday.

Hi Ray,

The Pattada or Pattadesa is the traditionnal knife from the village of Pattada , north Sardinia. Today it's made every where on the island because it's THE traditional sardinian knife in everybody's mind.
The Dorgalesa is a variation from the village of Dorgali. Thinner and to my opinion more elegant :
You have also the Logudoresa from the region of Logudoro . Another variation often seen with a locking system .

Resolza or Resorza is the generic name of these type of knife .
You can see a lot of variations on my old tumblr blog : https://coltellosardo.tumblr.com/

Thank you Â. That is a treasure of a resource on Sardinian knives. I think I know now where all the missing photos in this thread can be found. :) I'll need to pull off a few examples to study the local variations on the theme. They are certainly beautiful knives.

And yes L lambertiana - yours always stops me in every thread I find it. Thanks for posting.

Those foggia antica knives are absolutely stunning!!

Hello my friends ,

Not a lot of fires but one main which has distroyed forests and villages of the center of the island . Of course the poorest areas have been more touched .
But solidarity is very important and it could be worst without it . The association of knife-makers Kenz'e Meres organised a raffle to help as a lot of other association.
It seems that the fire has also hit hard Sicily 😞 .

Near Cagliari where I am the weather is hot but we are fare from the problem . I will soon make a little report to share .

Hello my friends ,
Nice to hear from you, J-M, and that you are OK!!!
It is a global tragedy!! We, too are safe, but a similar condition is happening here!!
Nearly 300 forest fires here in B.C. with some small towns destroyed, and several at risk!!
