Hello Motor Geeks !
I have a 2hp 3Ø 240-480V ninewire motor.
Problem is, its peckerhead was ripped out. All its wires are intact, but numbertags missing.
Its easy enough to measure resistances to determine the “Y” and secondary coils.
But !
Any ideas how to determine which secondary coil belongs to which leg of the “Y” and winding polarity of that coil ?

Best idea I can come up with is remove its rotor, then individually energize each coil with DC. From that I should be able to use a magnet to map out the physical coil locations and their polarity.

Otherwise, I have a dualtrace ‘Scope.
I may try to get the motor to run on its “Y” coils. Then look at the induced waveform on each secondary coil.
But from there.. I can sort of envision what To find, but thats where I lose my confidence in that theory.
Another problem with that. I only have VFD to run the motor, its not a ‘real sinewave’, so I expect that will add difficulty making visual comparasin on the ‘scope.
Thanks..
