About 20 years ago my Dad and I started going to buckskin competitions. It didn't take long to get hooked on it. We would spend a lot of afternoons in the yard throwing hawks and trying to split cards and drinking straws. I was wondering if any of the guys on the forum are into throwing? At one time I could split a card in half and a straw length ways..but that was a LONG time ago... ;)

When I was in school my uncle and i would run at targets and throw sometimes. We would also try throwing for two and three revolutions. My grandfather told me that when my uncle was in high school he cut a playing card in half and pinned the falling piece with his knife before it hit the ground. Boy how I used to practice to try and do that. Good memories, thanks.

One of my favorite past times. Throwing knives and hawks. Cold steel Rifleman hawk, Bad Axe (a double bitted...sort of a cheater), Special Forces shovel, and GI Tanto. For the axes and shovels 30' is my favorite distance for throwing.
