  • Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah from all of us here on BladeForums! We hope that your holidays are filled with cheer!

Time to post your steel collections!

Don't want to drag them all out, but here's some of them.

please for the love of god and your gun tell me you aren't using wolf ammo in your rifle.. I knew a guy who bought a NIB AR-15 off the shelf, and 40 rounds wolf ammo later it was scrap.. the steel casings are hell on the innards of a semi auto gun.

Alright, here's mine

I took the first two and then realized I still had my EDC in my pocket (spyderco scorpius and ECOS kiridashi)

Took me awhile to round them up, and I know I'm missing a few, but here's the majority.

Fixed blades and axes(missing a fiskars axe that I can't seem to find)

Gonna be time for a give away soon...

Really? Darn it! I have a Bark River Gunny, that "other forums's H&C forum knife, a new Breeden and a new JK on the way. I guess I'll quit after that.:D

Thanks! I warned the wife what I was doing and she just rolled her eyes.:D

Great idea for a thread on a rainy weekend! I was first drawn for the "wilderness and survival skills". I've always owned some type of knife or multi-tool, but now I do believe I'm hooked on acquiring knives:thumbup:. I had accumulated most of these before I started coming here, but I've loved seeing so many beautiful (in the manly sense) pieces of work, and have slowly started to add to my collection.

Here's the whole enchilada such as it is so far

Here are my "recent" purchases through the exchange. To John, Doug, and Christof - thank you for doing such excellent work. Thanks also to Tony for happening to have these (except the necker) available.

Finally, I just liked the way these three looked together. A true wilderness trio.

I have a Koster WSS knife on order, and I'm really looking hard at one of Brian Andrews' modified Snow & Nealys to go with the one I already have.

Maine - you managed to snag Jakes blue wenge koyote - you lucky, lucky man! I've had my eye on that one since it was first offered by Koyote in the maker's area. Would have snapped it up from J if I had money at the time. Treat that baby well! I really like your saws also!

Rotte - the Koyote traditional leuku is simply awesome. Before it arrived I was conviced that I was going to need another big 1/4" chopper to fill out the collection. After playing with the Koyote last weekend and wacking away a different stuff, I really don't need anything else. It has enough flex to work the saplings and springy stuff nicely, but is thick enough to go through the wood. All that and it is lighter to carry than an RC-6. A great camp knife for sure!

Well, the ammo in that pic is Silver Bear "Effect" ammo. Still steel cased.

But seriously, dude, it's an AK, they were designed for use with steel cased ammo, that's all the Soviets used.

As to the AR, I suspect the bolt carrier or main bore of the upper receiver were out of spec and that's what tore up the rifle. The steel used in steel cased ammo is very soft. If you pick up a spent case, you can crush it as easily as a brass case.

Bingo! That's AK fodder. In no way related to what ammo CplPun. may or may not be using, I only hesitate about steel cased ammo when used in an AR. And even that's just in case it's the lacquer instead of polymer sealant (I don't trust the extractor to survive vs an AK).

Sweet scout rig, by the way.

Heres mine. Not alot of nice stuff in there like most of you guys though:o
