tip breakage

I just lost about half an inch of tip off my X-42. I was taking apart a snowboard boot and had stabbed it into my towel rack. To my horror I heard a tell tale snap when I pulled it out. I don't know what went wrong, the wood was only a old piece of pine. I hope this will be covered under SOG's warrenty. I have no money to send it back just yet, but as soon as I do I'll ship it to you. Where do I send it anyways?
Any help/explanation would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Hi DameLara,

Wow, this is a first for our X-42 series! We will certainly want to take a look at that knife and evaluate it under warranty. Return instructions can be found on our website's warranty page:

www.sogknives.com/warranty.htm

Usually, we do not recommend stabbing one's knife into wood. That does constitute misuse, but there may be a defect with your knife which made the tip break.

Thank you Ron.

I love the knive, and the steel. I just figured that I could stab it into that w/o a problem. If I need to get another one, I will. I've alwase been happy with SOG product, and my X-42 is no different. I'll send it to you ASAP.
