Traditional and Modern pairings

I always carry several knives, i have a gerber traditional 39 series really like the knife. Its updated with a thumb stud, and traditional back lock but is a one hander. I also always carry an assisted opening kershaw, have 10 to choose. I dont like most because of the line lock, i work year round outside and just can't close a line locker with gloves on. I got away from friction locks because too many times it closes, i switch early on away from my scout knife and old timers because of this. But i was able to keep my grandpas old timer folder similar to a buck 110. I found that this knife to be useful on the homestead, and it had a back lock. Was large and filled a niche which i carried a fixed blade for but was more compact. I have had opinels for years, and love these knives.
So to sum up a lot of wisdom from 30+ years carrying knives:
I carry a food only knife, an opinel no. 8. Love this lock and knife for food.
I carry a back lock, small gerber easy 1 hand and can close with 1 hand utility knife.
I carry a medium assisted open tactical knife, any will do.
1 is 0, 2 is 1, 4 is plenty with a backup in the car or bag.
Then i have a job/day specific knife: fixed blade, hunter if hunting, buck 110 good all around, case sod buster, mora scandi if im wood working or general utility, working in the wood lot big kukri or a hatchet, produce harvest knife/hori hori if in the garden. This knife is specifically for the tasks for the day or a general knife in place or you dont have to carry at all.
Best knife for yhe job is the one you have.
Choose wisely
