You may dislike the company, the owner, their marketing tactics, even some of their designs (I do)... but truth is, they make some great knives with fair materials with one of the most sturdy locks out there AND at affordable prices (even though they are getting more expensive as they start using better materials, as expected!).

I had a pocket Bushman (gifted it) and althogh it required two hands for opening and closing and was not something to carry to the office... it was a GREAT knife. Robust, sharp, great blade shape (full flat... slicey!). I don't think it qualifies as a trapped in a desser island thread... since it is carbon steel... but other than that....

Allow me to laugh. Mue hue hue!
That was silly.

Sorry A.L., I don't get it.

- You find silly my almost suggestion of the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman as a trapped in a dessert island knife?
- You find silly my decission to rule it out due to the blade being carbon steel?
- Other?

Thanks!

May I correct you, Mikel?
The Pocket bushman is a stainless steel handled, stainless steel (AUS8 old one, CTS-BD1 the newer model) blade pocket knife. Apart from the website's specs, the Pocket Bushman I own is definitely stainless...
I use it for the "Calçotadas" every year, to cut up the onions (Calcots) and it'd rust very quickly if it was made of carbon steel like my Opinels.

Secondly , knowing you are an Spanish guy like me, and English is not your main language (nor it is for me), may I add: "desert" = desierto, deshabitado while "dessert" = postre, último plato

The weight of this knife is probably what caused the plane to crash in the first place.

If I was flying commercial airline to some island vacation, my checked in suitcase would carry one or two of the following cheap $5 2.5"-3" single blade non-tactical folder with liner or back lock or old school slip joint or SAK/multi-tool. If it doesn't get "borrowed/stolen/confiscated" by TSA and it doesn't sink to the bottom of ocean inside airplanes luggage compartment, than that is what I'll have after crush landing.

Otherwise, I'll have to create improvise island shiv from airplane debris or garbage flotsam that washes up on the beach.
How is this for folder use folded lid from empty tin can to create serrated slicer.:D
