It's on loan, and the edge geometry is so good I don't trust myself to sharpen it without ruining it (I've only stroped it); when it needs real sharpening I'm going to take it to a professionalGood looking knife. Looks like it has really nice geometry.
thanks! My favorite Mencken quote: "an idealist is someone who upon observing a rose smells better than a cabbage also assumes it will make a better soup"That’s a good looking and performing knife.
One of the nicest I've had the pleasure to handle. It's on loan though, so I can't get too attached to itThat's pretty impressive! Very nice one you've got there.

The man who made that one is making me one of my own.You should renegotiate the terms of the loan, see if you can refinance it so you can keep it!![]()
The man who made it is Ray Kirk, his brand is Raker Knives. Very nice man and an excellent bladesmith. He forges pretty much all his blades from 52100, which in my limited experience has proven to be an incredibly durable metal. I've chopped some 2x4s with it and the edge remains very sharp. Here's a video of ringing bottles with itYour video provides first rate advertising for the knife and maker. Makes me wonder if I can justify one of those for myself. I don't cut a lot of free hanging rope, but that's quite a testament to edge geometry and heat treatment, and might justify a hundred feet or so of 1" rope just for fun!
Ray is awesome. I have another blade he made that is a massive 19" business end 17" handle panabas that's so tough and choptastic that I could probably jaws-of-life someone out of a wrecked car with it if I had to. It's just greatRay is an excellent maker! I have one of his knives - not this size - that is as solid as they come, very well made. As I recall, he has been profiled in BLADE magazine at least once. Very cool
Increments = 3/6/9/12/15/18/20/25 1/2 inch nylon/polymer ropeHow many strands of rope are you using for each cut?
is there even an option to keep it after the loan refinance? You should renegotiate the terms of the loan, see if you can refinance it so you can keep it!
I've took a loan from moneyzap.com, they offer loans with bad credit hitory
I've returned to the man that lent it to me, but he presented me with a knife I had commissioned a few months back so I'm still in the sunshineis there even an option to keep it after the loan refinance?
