First and foremost I would like to apologize for the few people waiting for a sheath. Chainring, Raining, and Rotte are the only people waiting for leather right now.

Here is an update on my situation. When I got back in August from vacation I needed to get caught up at school (my full time job is a professor) and a month or so quickly went away there.

School started for both of my boys at their new school and quickly my youngest son was diagnosed with ADHD and has had some trouble getting situated in Kindergarden. My oldest has Autism so the situation got a little more busy around the house. We have had sleep studies, EEG's, blood tests and the like for weeks now. The good news is that both are doing much better in school and the ADHD diagnosis might have been premature. The family is certainly tired of specialists and tests that haven't told us anything we can use or do anything about.

I will get those sheaths done and get them out the door as soon as I can. I have not and will not take any new orders until I am caught up - and I will likely take a break after I get caught up in order to see where my family is at and my love is for making sheaths. Right now I have little drive and wonder if I will be done making sheaths after I am caught up (unless on a small time basis).

I am sorry for the delay's and the lame excuses.

TF

I guess I should have read your post before posting my comment. Good luck with your boys Jason. As a parent I could imagine what you are going through. If you need anything you knbow where to find me.

No worries, Tal! It's not like I don't have Fiddlebacks in Tal leather to carry already! :)

In my observation, ADHD is "diagnosed" at the drop of a hat for little boys who are smart and energetic and are bored easily by the public school's tendency to lower standards and move at the pace of the lowest common denominator. They want 'em all to sit there with their legs crossed and their hands folded demurely in their laps like the little girls, and listen quietly. When they don't, there must be something wrong with them - give 'em drugs to shut 'em up! Whooo, don't get me started.

Ever thought of educating your kids at home? ;) Nothing like a custom-fitted education by loving parents to help a kid reach his potential - no matter what kind of challenges he faces!

Hope you get everything squared away soon, AND get your sheath-making MOJO back! :)

Smoke for strength incoming.....

It aint easy being a parent but it sure lets you know what it important.

Hey brother, life is crazy sometimes but what is more important than family?

I have two boys and they are everything to me, so I understand where you're coming from.

Hope things look up for you and your family.

Randy

Glad to see you're alive, Tal, and I completely know where you're coming from. Hope things work out for you, man

Now that you are back what will be your turn around time for one sheath?

smoke sent Tal.. hang in there bro...:) family always comes first... we have been put through the ringer here lately, too..

how does your son sleep?? our little dude Cypress(7) has always had problems sleeping and also had been having problems in school for the past few years, his horrible teacher last year was insisting he had ADHD/ADD.. it turns out he had severe "Obstructive Sleep Apnea" (OSA).. OSA affects children in many different ways, including ADD/ADHD like sypmtoms, due to lack of sleep..
he had to have his tonsils and adenoids removed, which were enormous, they did it this past Tuesday right before Thanksgiving.. so needless to say, this past week has been horrible.. i do think once he heals and is able to sleep better, things will start to improve for him.. you might want to look into it..

take care..

Hey man - Been there - Only Doctors can diagnose ADHD - Not teachers!

Good Luck!

Mike - great thoughts - we had a sleep study done last week - we will know more next week.

Thanks for smoke and thoughts everyone.

Hey Tal kinda new around here but have been really enjoying the pics of your leather and was kinda hoping one day to get you to do a cross draw for my karda, I hope everything clears and you find the joy back in making great bushcrafting leather. Hate to see a craftsman go away from what he is good at but I do understand, I would turn the world over for my son or daughter.
Man how many of us would have been diagnosed will ADD if it had been around when we were kids? Hope the tests come out good. Ill send some good thoughts your way. Hate to see a youngun not get a fair shake at this sh!$ hole of a world.

Craftsmanship happens around passion my friend. Let not your heart be troubled for the sheaths. Give your concern to your kids. Your work is worth waiting for.

Praying for your family.

Hannah had a shit teacher that, right off the bat, suggested that she was slow and needed to see a Dr. about ADHD when in 1st grade. I had to handle that person very directly. She changed her tune somewhat when Hannah's grades turned out to be stellar, and she aced the standardized testing. Never stopped riding her about dumbass 'conduct' stuff, just never liked my kid. I got notes home daily. She was twirling in the hallway. She was talking during lunch. She talked in the bathroom. Every day she sent a note. Hannah cried to me that she was sorry she was doing so bad in 1st grade (She had perfect grades). I spoke to the teachere telling her that I wasn't going to have a 1st grader with self esteem problems because of her sorry ass. So I said I was going to tell Hannah to blow her off if she didn't cut her shit out. Boy, she didn't like that.

I hate ADHD diagnoses. I bet half the kids are just smart and bored. Why not drug them so they're as slow, and boring as everyone else? Drugged kids rock!

Right. I saw ADHD kids in college snorting that shit off plates. No, the teacher gets to swallow her own job, and deal with my kid acting like a kid. I won't drug her so she acts like a democrat.

Did I say that? I meant she'd be acting like a sheep.

Praying for you and your family.
Be careful about the ADHD diagnosis. My wife was found wrongfully diagnosed with that and was put on all sorts of meeds when she was younger. Se ended up having all sorts of side effects and still lives with them.
