Updated UF 2

Yeah, a swedge is standard. It will be the same as the last run of UF except I've made a few small tweaks.

The previous run: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/closed-pre-order-6-utility-fighter.1633754/

Same pricing, same options etc. except I don't think we're going to do the "utility field grade (as machined)" finish. We'll add about $10 bucks to the price of the basic configuration to cover a basic grind to remove the tool marks before tumbling. You people have spoken. Also, unfortunately, we'll probably need to add about 5% over the original pricing because it has been a couple years and materials and labor went up. Inflation happened and we all gotta eat. But the new run is fundamentally the same as the old run.

Excellent, I see that double-edged was an option!
(Based on the last pre-order, I'll have what Gus is having...)

If there are just a few I will grind the standard UF into a double edge. However, if (like last time) there are a larger number of double edge ordered I will probably offer a variation of the UF that is a dagger ground double edged fighter. Those were a bear but they were pretty cool.

Hi Nathan, are you doing any tweaks to the 3D handle shape for UF2? Kinda like the change from light chopper to medium chopper - small change visually but big improvement in hand.

Sort of. It will be a big change visually but a minor improvement in hand.

The difference between the two, I think.. Needed a reminder myself;)

I’m awaiting my DEK1 and the “Mrs. tax” is still being paid! Now, an opportunity to score a UF2. She’s gonna raise that tax faster than hidden-biden. I’ll figure it out and - I’m in, dagger ground of course

That link is very helpful and answers a ton of questions.. I don't even remember the previous UF pre-sale. I think I was drunk that month.

Sorta rhetorical question based on Nathan stating recently that extra options such as swedge and penetrator tip slow down the preorder process, my take from that being Nathan may not be keen on splashing this preorder with too many options but I’ve still gotta ask:

Will there be an option for a any sharpened top along the swedge lines ala a double edge version? My one regret from the past being not scoring one of those OG double edge versions (not DEF, I’m covered there) when I kinda had a chance to :(
I am curious about this also Mat:thumbsup::confused:

I hate to show a prototype that isn't finished but these pictures illustrate the tweaks we've made to the UF. Be aware this handle isn't totally dialed in yet and I haven't worked out the texture yet. The production model won't be smooth like this but the shape is pretty close to final.

It is fundamentally similar to the OG UF however I've added some tweaks to the handle that are similar to the tweaks we developed while working out the details on the DEK1 and that sweet sweet jimping that Lorien was wanting me to figure out for years. It was a detail that had been incompatible with our manufacturing process but we've figured it out without needing to add addition fixturing to the process.

The final handle will be a bit more refined and will have the texturing we're known for.

Yes that is antique micarta on the prototype. I don't have fixturing yet to process sheet for this pattern so I needed a solid chunk to hold onto and the antique is the only big solids I have laying around right now. For an number of reasons, this was a particularly expensive prototype...
