It's a US Knife Makers Smackdown!!!

Let's see who the community likes best among US manufacturers. Rules for this one are:
- Had to be a US based company
- Company has to design and manufacture at least part of their product line in the US
- Doesn't have to be a brand that you own, just one that you like better than the rest
- What qualifies the brand as your favorite is up to you. Let us know.
- This is a folder/OTF centered poll. Nothing against fixed blades, just needed to narrow the field

Sorry for the catch-all at the end, Ten is the maximum number of responses.

Fan-Boys Welcome! ;)
I’m a new member and carry an auto Benchmade striker. Not much paint remaining however she’s solid after many many years.
Where can I find fair market value on my NIB Smith and Wesson Extractor 1600 “ Batman - Joker “ knife?
Thank you

Could you please do me the favor of citing my error.
Yes. I have scoured the entire internet and there is no "bad rap" for buck because their HT is too good. It is an irrational idea.

I see you've been given a 2 week ban for posting nonsense yet again in another thread. Enjoy your time off and maybe think about reading more and posting less when you return. We don't like nonsense in this section of the forum and we'll correct misinformation whenever it is presented.

Back to the regularly scheduled program....it is hard to argue against spyderco winning this poll. There is just too much to like about the American products they put out.

Post up some pics of that Benchmade in the appropriate picture threads! We love pics of well used knives. Unfortunately this isn't the place to ask about selling a knife and you need to be at least a gold member to ask about such things. Please read the rules.

I would like to add …. that a lot of why I like Spyderco has to do with Sal Glesser. Sal embraces “customer service” and goes above and beyond for our members, our military & law enforcement. He’s a true patriot and …to me…embodies what it means to be a USA maker. He gives back to our community and particularly to our warriors.

Very true. Not only does he personally address issues when they arise here on the forums, he communicates and asks for input directly from his customers here even when there are no issues! And from what I can tell, his son Eric is just as into the business of knives as he is. That's a treasure in the knife community.

Great point. How many owners of companies on the list personally respond here in the forums on a regular basis?

I don’t get the over the top Buck fanboys. I’ve seen this several times where they proclaim Buck as this amazing all American brand, totally ignoring all the China models they put out. Also Kershaw is very open that most of their models are not made here so not sure why he was saying they make parts overseas and put them together here. Very odd guy.

Spartan decided to start importing a couple Taiwan models. While this is infinitely better than PRC made knives, it's still very disappointing to see a company that heavily advertises Made in USA start importing some of their lineup (and like Microtech, they are charging WAY too much for overseas products).
Seems like 100% American all the time always is a lot harder for makers than they think, one reason I respect medford he made a huge yt rant about this and said he'll never do that ever, American made always. Work for me

Yeah, and he also took it a bit (a lot?) too far. He lost ANY respect I had for him and I wouldn't even consider supporting a douchebag like Greg Medford.

Jesus Christ, some of you people would have supported Hitler if he was a bladesmith and as long as he made good knives.

Comments like this aren't necessary and due nothing too further the discussion.

They are necessary as long as people keep narrow-mindedly supporting makers that they apparently know nothing about, or only what they selfishly wish to know.

Are we not here to educate? People should start learning. Ignorance does nothing to further our hobby, and only makes scumbags richer.

You cannot talk about knives without talking about the maker (or at the very least, taking him into consideration), as much as many keep trying to differentiate the two.

Definitely Spyderco. Vast amount of designs, handle types, steels, lock types. Well done heat treats. Sal is still active online all these years. Hard to beat them as tools. I just trust Spyderco

Sigh...Hmm

Then start a thread about that topic and educate... any further thread disruption will result in a thread ban.

Case

Purchased this new, the medallion fell out, still skins a squirrel, but it is easy to poke myself with the clip blade. For 1970's steels, takes an excellent edge.

modern Case knives are as well made as the old, perhaps the steels are better, but Case steels are for those who sharpen on an stone, not a belt grinder.

Great design made by an old line knife company:

And these are still all made in the USA! 💪

I’m new to the forum and consider myself a Benchmade fanboy and would have voted for them however, I just bought my first CRK and it’s amazing.
