As a rule, you should only be in close when you are also at an angle. If you are taking a picture of the whole thing straight on you need to be off of ways and zoom in, otherwise the distortion from being close makes the design look weird.

^ that is, objectively, pretty awesome. I wish I had more of that really good black Blackwood, but you can't get it anymore and my stash has been consumed.

You're not kidding. I ordered African Blackwood from two different places and asked for the blackest piece, but they're all brown at best. I'd kill for a piece that black for my bird handle.

These are absolutely incredible. That pair just just raised the UF bar through the ceiling 👍👍. Beautiful knives.
 
All three with Af-BW handle scales and satin themed (OG-DEF Mark's vertical, OG-UF w Nathan's lengthwise and DEF2 with Nathan's lengthwise grinds). I think that I have a couple of other Af-BW scales on an FK2 and also a DEF1. Anyway, better picture with less blade length distortion and unavoidable reflections!

Wow! Those look fantastic Mat! Great choice on the wood they look great! I just just picked mine up at the post office today, I was out of town and returned late on Monday. I am so happy with what I got! 😁 I got the the horizontal satin/acid wash, DIW, and a couple of Pirtlemade sheath.

I am kind of regretting not getting my UF2 dressed up with all the fixings, you guys are posting some real bangers. In the end though, I needed mine to still be a knife, so no double edges for me but I might look into some fancy finishes in the future. 😁

I still like mine though, it's a good 'un.

That Carothers signature with the golden hue has a cult following among some of us ;)

They are a byproduct of the heat treat. I think that the ones with the blue hue are the rarest, then there are a few with rose color gold and then yellow gold. I had heard that Nathan started to get rid of them, the loco!
