Veritasium just released video on Japanese swords

Veritaium is a great YouTube science channel. Love his stuff.

His latest video is on making Japanese swords starting from the very beginning of collecting iron sand thru polishing. It's the most informative video I've seen on the smelting process. It includes some easy to understand basics of related metallurgy too. Even Kevin Cashen is in there.

Is it everything you need to know? Of course not. Is it informative and helpful in appreciating the craftsmanship? Absolutely.
