Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger on one or not.Takefu was promoting it some recently on their Instagram. And also the VG10W. I really don’t understand the point of the tungsten in the steels. It doesn’t increase wear resistance like it does in simple steels. It acts more like Mo but you need twice as much W to have the same effect and it doesn’t increase hardenability and corrosion resistance as well as Mo does.
To be clear I'm not saying the steel is bad, just that the tungsten addition that is being advertised is not very exciting or interesting. Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger on one or not.
Did you find any other than the Makoto Kurosaki "Ryusei" series?I saw there some Japanese kitchen knives being made with it. That's about all I could find.
Will do. So far so good, no edge damage, and still hair popping sharp.Interesting that every fixed blade knife I've found using Takefu's VG7 is a Sanmai laminate and they are all convex ground.
Please let us know your impressions with this VG7 F1 in due course.
I'm especially curious as to whether the VG7 blade develops very small chipping out of the box. Both my VG10 and 3G F1s did, although it never happened again after the first sharpening. Will do. So far so good, no edge damage, and still hair popping sharp.

Are these Spyderco folders VG7 steel? And if so could you tell us what model?
Have you used the Lam Cos, 3G, or VG10 models prior to the VG7? If so how would you say this compares to those? Will do. So far so good, no edge damage, and still hair popping sharp.
