Volunteer Knife Thread - Show them off!

Sweet! His take on the Kephart is just perfect. I truly can’t say enough good things about Volunteer- truly top notch knives and people.
I have 2 model 12’s (one without finger choil), and they are just fantastic. The weight and balance allow for very fast chopping motion which allows them to cut above their size. I think you will love the 12 if you decide to get one.
Which do you prefer on the Model 12, the one with a finger choil or without? I realize this is personal preference. Mind sharing pics of your two Model 12s so I can see them side by side? Thanks much

I love them both. The one without finger choil is nice for when I occasionally make feathersticks, as I like the wood to be closer to my hand. (Please forgive the terrible quality photo).IMG_7801.jpeg

I'll be watching how You like it, thanks..... I've only made one item with it, for a special member, Here....It works well. It's definitely different than "normal" micarta. So far from what I've heard, everybody seems to like it. It seems more open of a weave, looser. Perhaps that gives good traction , idk

Is it similar to burlap? Looks like it in the photo

It is burlap, but I think the binders/resiens? Inside hold it all together. I can't spell?

Shadetree scale material is more expensive than regular materials, by a fair bit.
It's a small operation. The colors they do are awesome. People seem to really like them, often the material runs out. The one knife I've made so far with it is the same color/green. It has a Rich color look to it. Nice.
It feels slightly softer, less indestructible than regular Micarta....but feels stronger than wood.
Not sure what others thoughts are?

I Will definitely use it again.

Not to highjack thread, Sorry.....
I dug out some stash.
The closer one is shadetree. It looks like it has less resin?;than regular burlap.
It might be grippier? More fabric/burlap exposed. I think it has a less dense feel, slightly squishy? It might be in my head?
