Way off topic.

[Knife freaky]

I know this is way off topic but I wanted to share with you guys. I was working on a knife at our ranch in the Texas Panhandle and all of the sudden the power went off in the barn where I do all my work. Figured I blew a breaker again. Well it wasn't a breaker. There was a massive fire about 5 miles from my house! About 7 miles long! Luckily the wind was blowing it away from us. Well that changed in about 5 minutes! The wind changed direction and before long it was headed right for us.

So all the sudden the fire was 1/2 mile from us so we got evacuated by the fire department. So we waited thinking they might get it out. So about 2:00 in the morning we decided to get a hotel. Went out this morning and the fires still going! Much smaller but still headed for us. None of our property or cattle have been hurt but all our stuff is still inside the house. And I mean everything all we have is the clothes on our backs! So thanks everyone for listening to my long story. Feels good to get it off my chest! Please pray for us and everyone effected by these fires!

Well good news! The last of the fires in our immediate area are out! The house made it! There where 5 deaths as a result of the fire. Thank you all so much for all your prayers and well wishes! Now to take a nice long nap!

My father was always a good role model for dealing with emergencies . There was fire in one of the other apartments. We were awakened by my father 'get up , get dressed ' in a "do it NOW voice." The FD put out the fire quickly while we all watched . The other families were angry that we were the only one dressed !!!
Make some plans for such emergencies ! Don't depend on others . My early flood experience - afterwards someone asked where did we go for the evacuation . Evacuation ??? No one told us about that !!
