maybe it's just the SAKs that i have, But the tools on the wenger seem alot harder to open than the Victorinox. There is alot of resistance on my Wenger and the tools snap closed and open alot harder. Too hard. I hardly ever use my Wenger SAK because of that.

From my experience the Victorinox have more snap - they snap open and close. Their walk & talk is crisper and a lot more authorative than the Wenger.

But for me the difference seemed slight - this is only when compared side-by-side.

However might want to check out this thread -

UNBELIEVABLE!!! SAK Quality....

and a tool-by-tool comparison -

SAKs - Victorinox or Wenger

From what I know, Wenger is an American brand while Victorinox is the Traditional Swiss brand. I prefer Victorinox to Wenger, but I own both brands!

Nope - both Wenger and Victorinox are SWISS - have always been.

Look at the tang stamps both Victorinox and Wenger are made in Switzerland - with the "crossbow" symbol which some have mistaken as an umbrella :D .....

They both supply the Swiss military with the SAK Soldier/Standard Issue/Soldat model.

So by Swiss (and international) law only Wenger and Victorinox knives are allowed to display the Swiss Cross symbol.

Recently Wenger was bought out by Victorinox -
but Wenger is supposed to continue to operate independently.......

Both of my Wengers (Evo16 and Teton) have weaker back springs and less snap than any of my Vics. Which model do you have, Chuck289? The only Wenger that I have handled that had strong springs was a Highlander.
