What do you think of the CETME HK 91 93 Clone

If you're going to jump into the $1,500.00 range for a rifle in a hi-cap 308... nothing can touch the AR-10. And it's ability to be accurized from the stock configuration is amazing. I have an AR-10 that I had an accurized upper built for. The thing is amazing with a scope or iron sights. I had a 2 stage trigger installed on the lower and a solid fixed stock, plus extra trigger work to sweeten it as much as possible. I also have the factory standard upper to go on it so it can switch between an accurized pin-point shooter... and a run and gun battle rifle. With most other 308 hi-cap rifles (Hi-Cap meaning it'll take a 20 round mag or more)... you either build it for one or the other. And constant rapid fire is not healthy for an accurized improvised sniper type weapon if you want to maintain barrel life. With my setup I can strap one upper to my backpack, and have the other on the weapon and have the best of both worlds on the fly. A 308 and enough extra ammo and mags are no joke to hump over long distances though.

OK, get 'em while you can for $629.95 (for the model with bayonet lug).

Atlantic Firearms and Classic Arms are both selling the same Galil rifle assembled by the trained monkeys at Century Arms on Rapid Fire receivers. Might as well save the seventy bucks and get it from Classic Arms.

Or you can spend $1250 to get one assembled from all new parts by the trained gunsmiths at Ohio Rapid Fire.

John,

With you spending all your INFI cash on guns it looks like I'll be able to keep "Precious" a little longer. :p

OH NO! The rifle is paid for, and funds are 'set aside' for Precious when she gets back from 'walking the streets'...

The truest form of "if you love something, set it free..." :D

T, how about the Armalite Super SASS:

How VERY NICE!

My rifle won't be a SASS, not using a can on mine, however, it WILL be able to shoot with one... :) Outwardly, they are very similar.

And I really like the price I found the DPMS mags for, even at 4x what my FAL mags cost me, but 1/2 what I can find Armalite AR10 mags for...

Armalites are wonderful, no doubt - I'm just a mag-HO'... :D

And, I have a IMBEL receiver built with an IMBEL kit - has been the most boringly reliable .308 auto I've owned, so I painted it... :)

DSA would be the way to go if you don't want to learn how to build your own FAL, or would rather not work through the all the ins/outs of what receiver/what kit, which gunsmith, etc. I'm fortunate to have several friends who had them built by a local 'smith, all function, all the time. Like a great rifle should.

DSA builds a great FAL...

M1A rifles are fantastic open-sight rifles, mags are somewhat available at what today are 'reasonable' prices, but adding anything to it to 'modernize' it is an overly cumbersome affair...

Scopes add height, which adds a need for cheek support, which imbalances the rifle, etc....

Want rails? Red dot sight? Collapsible stock? Here is a solution! A 14 pound solution... It is A HAMMER... but it weighs 14 pounds. Plus ammo and spare magazines. It's a great rifle, but limited in mission for me - so it left the stable.

In my opinion, the FAL is a great rifle for an 'only' .308, as you have an adjustable gas system for different ammo power, good magazine availability, and it has good ergonomics, great reliability and acceptable accuracy.

Good luck in your search!
