What flashlight do you keep in your vehicle

I keep a streamlight pro tac 2AA in my vehicle. And I always have a microstream usb in my pocket. At work we are required to have a streamlight duelie in our pickup. I haven’t been without light for a long time. I have plans to get a headlight for my hardhat. A few guys at work have them and they are nice.

I’ve picked up one of these and found that’s it’s very versatile. Magnetic or can be clipped to things.

It comes with a head band to convert it into a headlight as well as red, white and green diffusers.

I don't leave a flashlight in my vehicle for several of the reasons stated. Around my house I have numerous Fenix lights- PD22, 25, 32, 35, 36R so if I'm going to be in the vehicle anytime near dark I carry one of those with me, plus I have a Fenix E03R hanging on the keyring.

A couple of weeks ago I was leaving work in the dark and the big plastic airdam under the front of the car was hanging loose and dragging on the ground. I had a flashlight in my pocket plus a multitool and a screwdriver in my desk to with all of that I was able to remove the big plastic piece so I could drive home.

Coldness is hard on any battery. Don't leave the same batteries in all winter and expect them to perform at 100% in the spring.
Whomever said headlamp was spot on.
thanks!
headlamps are a great hands free option.
long term possibility to be aware of is the emergence of dead rubber on the elastic band componant.
personally tend to favor clip ons
working lights with magnet ends are great too.

I have one headlamp in my tool box that is old and sees alot of use. The headband got stretchy. I simply tied it in a knot and continue on.
That's one out a half dozen headlamps.

I keep an old Inova X2 LED light in the car with two AA Lithium cells in it. This model is so old that it does not have the dual high/low output option; only one light level the whole time. Have a spare pack of AA lithium batteries in the glove box too. Alkaline has always leaked by the time I need to use the light, and the lithium cells claim a 10 year shelf life. Swap out the cells after several years with newer ones.

If they made C cell sized lithium cells I would get something bigger.

Streamlight TL-3 LED from the early days of LEDs, plus an additional half-dozen CR-123s. Bought it in 2004; ain't looked back since.

I also carry 24-hour vehicle assistance on my insurance policy, as well as a phone. No need to be heroic about changing a tire on a bad night.

I forgot I have a small air compressor that runs off the ciggy lighter. It has a constant on white or red as well as a flashing white or red. LED meaning it's bright and not much of a drain.

A rechargeable 18650 is a pretty potent battery. My Fenix PD36R uses a slightly larger 21700 battery.

I've got fancy flashlights and not-so-fancy flashlights. I've left things in my car that were stolen, or corroded internal wires/springs because of the fluctuating temperatures. Additionally, the person you gift your flashlight to might not use it well, might use it too much (non-emergencies), lose, or not want to worry about tracking down batteries that aren't available at the local gas station at 3 am when needed.

Personally I want something that has decent run time in case I'm stranded 10+ miles from the nearest station or whatever, and I want a seperate light that can stay with the car and flash so that I can find it if I have to venture far away, or if it's dark and there's no street lights where cars might hit it if it didn't make it's way to a safe spot. I also want a magnet so I can do a little work under the hood or change my tire without holding the light. Therefore I have a $15 Coast zoomie and $5 Big Larry knockoff which has a magnet, COB, and flashing red option. $20 altogether from Wmt.

Since I usually have an EDC light on me, I have a few bases covered. So far it's been a couple years and those cheap flashlights still work, and the Li AA's do OK through the cold seasons in my car. I do change the batteries every couple years and test the lights to make sure they work.

If I could only have one do-it-all flashlight in my glove compartment, it would be a headlamp. However, many of the decent but inexpensive headlamp options look like they have electric on switches that will slowly drain the batteries over time if installed.

If you want to go with a mid range flashlight, Steramlight has both a normal and a 90 degree flashlight that take a CR123, AA, or even a AAA (Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA and Protac 90 Everyday Carry). No magnet though. You can often find these locally.

In the wife’s car there is a three C cell Duracell light. A Costco special.

Used to have these in both vehicles. Not very impressed with them, actually. At least not for in the car. The tail cap switch will turn on just from the normal motion of a car on the move.

I have had really good performance from Nitecore, Fenix, Surefire, and Sofrin. Sofrin makes a model called a SP40. Right angle light, pocket clip, magnetic tail cap & headband. A nice light for the money. About 30 bucks.

Comes with a rechargeable 18650 battery, too.

BLF A6 SE. It's very cheap, extremely versatile, pretty tough.

I don't keep a light in any of our cars any more. Count me as one of the guys that every one of them leaked and destroyed themselves by the time I needed it. I just keep a keychain light in my pocket (some kind of Nitecore right now, but sometimes it's a Fenix).

I've got a body that hds a 26650 battery and takes any surefire e series head.

the pill has 3 led and has 3 brightness levels.

I keep a Maglite 2C of some kind in there. I think it is actually incandescent. And a cheap but reliable Bushnell LED light.
