Hey everyone! I have had no luck identifying what this style of axe is called. I really like the look of it, with the long eye and slightly upswept edge, it just looks like a pattern that I would really like to have.

The one that the old man is using in this video:

It's easier to see at the point that he's fitting the new head to the handle (which is the same style head as the old one)

The closest I've come is the oxhead, but the eye is not nearly as long:

Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I can just find out what that pattern is called, I know where to go from there. If you could point me to a link that actually carries them, that would be even better!

Thanks!

I thought i was the only one that still used a single edge razor to shape and scrape.Find out the origin of the word at the beginning of the video,Bosnia Russia,Chez Republic some of those country's don't export there good's.

I believe that the man is actually using a piece of broken glass to scrape the handle. Same idea though!

I use the squared spine of my knife to scrape wood to a buttery smooth texture, and occasionally use a broken piece of glass in the fashion of the man in the video to the same effect.

Kirvesvarsi is a name. A Finnish name.
No clue to the type name of that axe head though.
