What kind of folder do you carry?

Red needs heat to soften up, so I would use the tip of a soldering iron to localize the heat. I’ve heard of guys putting it in the oven but have never/will not try that one.

Ok, thank you! That's kind of what I was thinking but I figured I'd be safe and ask. I've never tried removing anything with loctite before!

Having good torx bits is important!! I think the most recommended around here is Wera bits. Very hard steel and precision fit.

Wera and Wiha both make excellent Torx bits, red loctite weakens at 450°f...your best bet is a VERY hot soldering iron as that will heat the screw fast with minimal heat transfer to the surrounding area.

That makes sense. I will get a set of those. My current set isn't very good and I have stripped screws in the past with it. If you do strip, then you basically have no recourse, right? Maybe drill or glue a bit to the stripped head and sacrifice both the bit and the screw? I can't really imagine theres much you can do with red loctite in there. It's not like you're going to force it open.

I'll try with my soldering iron. It gets pretty hot but it is very cheap.

I force lactated pivots open, its not a big deal, I have a cheap Husky set of bits that has never given me problems. Just turn it hard and it opens.
