What knife for a friend who wants a sharp beater?

A tough beater that you can pry with in a pinch? Only 1 folder pops into my mind - Buck Strider! A lot of fixed blades out there would work, but that's one BEEFY folder!

I do agree with the others though, if your friend uses a knife for the type of thing you're describing, he is definitely asking for trouble. He WILL cut someone and wind up in deep sh*t - It's only a matter of time. You ought to stress to him how important it is to use something that has less of a chance of hurting someone.

If not, try not to say you told him so when he's in the middle of a horrible lawsuit.
