What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Supposedly made in USA.
I don't know who had the contract to make them.

Maple Burl covers.
Blades (440A) are centered.
Has half stops.
Springs are Flush in all three positions.
Both blades have a smooth pull (despite the half stops) around a "5".
No noticable gaps.

I don't have the tin it came in anymore.
 
I’ve acquired several nice GECs since, but this Barlow is still one of my all-time favorites. Everything about this knife appeals to me. The beautiful clip-point blade with the excellent nail nick, the polished bolsters with the nice fluting, and, of course, my favorite part of the knife, the sawcut hemlock bone handles. Instant classic.
