What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Beauty of a Schrade Cut, Russell!

You must have been extra good this year, Half/Stop!

Great color combo, Fred!

Yes, it had a stovepipe kick, Duncan. Just a trace of it left!

Come on in, hang your jacket up on the hook over there, grab a stool at the bar and lets talk about some of the best knives we have seen.
Let that drink hit the spot and take a look around - you sitting in a place where some of the best folks I've met are regulars here, we have one thing in common - something that runs strong within us, we are Traditionalists and we welcome you to the best place - you chose well.....
Soon, you too will reach into your pocket, place on the bar a knife that will not let you stop thinking about it - your buddy next you knows exactly how you are feeling - hes probably been sitting at this bar a bit longer than you friend...so c'mon in and make yourself at home, because soon this place will feel like home to you like it is to many of us......

This little doozy arrived to today.
I'll say a very big thank you to Barry who contacted me regarding a "couple of stragglers and would I be interested?" when I believed I'd missed out.
I pounced and am very happy to have been given the opportunity to do so.
Cheers Barry.
And Cheers Charlie - for having such good taste in traditional blades.:D:D:thumbup:

Congrats, Meako! A happy holiday for you!

Today is the 5th Day of Christmas. My true love gave to me...

5 Barlow Knives!!!

Actually, I've had these for a while. My "users." But I wanted to post a photo of what would be the equivalent of 5 Golden Rings for me. 😀

A past Photo - I will have to dig out my knives and see if I still have two or just one of this group - the Ebony went across the world with me, I lost it somewhere - one of my biggest mifs in my days so far of knife interest/mentalness, the Saddle Brown I am not too sure - I must see..

Being somewhat new here, all I am going to add is "fantastic knives guys" and hope I don't get my head ripped off.
The only Barlow's I have are a Rough Rider with imitation abalone handles, and a Rough Rider with smooth white bone handles on the way. Needless to say, not comparable to the knives in this thread.

fishunter - welcome mate, why would you get your head ripped off?

Rough Rider are a great way to "feel" your way into a pattern before you invest a little more money. Dont worry about comparisons - but I know what you mean as I do that to myself as well... but honestly as long as you are interested in Traditional knives - everything is cool - because its a lot to do with the people that frequent here as well
Which makes me wonder why I havent been run out of town yet ? :o

:D

A very unusual Soupy texture John! Is the other side similar or contrasting?
I like your nicely patina-ed 5 gold rings, Scott!
Your 3 French Hens are pretty sweet too, Duncan, no matter where they are!

Duncan, I want to go to that bar with you! Cheers!:D

Hey Duncan, I'd love to join you for a tipple!
I'm hoping they have a good Bitter on tap!!

Wahoo, Bars open Lads......
Charlie Sir - what Beer you want is what Beer they serve, the only problem I forsee is getting drunk, and waking up with no knives on my person...and seeing that Hilborn fella with just a little bit extra wide smile on his face..... mmmmm

Which makes me wonder why I havent been run out of town yet ?

We're just waiting on a fresh delivery of tar and feathers:p
Charlie- IMO perfectly matched scales -they are dare I say it? "soup perb" here's the other side.
With a cutting of Firesprite Grevillea and some NSW Christmas Bush.

What a great pic, Duncan! Best I've ever seen of the Barlows in their natural habitat.

This could happen, or if we do a Crowd Meeting ... every one could have his own "Treasure" out of your pocket - like Mr. Gollum would have said :D :p
