What ONE knife do you use to keep the boogyman away?

I used to keep my mossberg 500 by the bed but now keep my glock 26, it's easier to hide in a drawer, but doens't make that nice satisfying kachunk, a pump does when chambering a round. All my knives are in there too, just because it's a good place to store them. The big ones are an ontario bolo and a knife my grandpa had made, it has about a 10 inch blade.

I did some stabbing tests on a cardboard box stuffed with newspaper that I was using as a 22 target. Surprizingly the knife that stabbed the best was my gerber ez- out. It effortlessly sunk to the handle everytime. The lock held up just fine too. I got this knife just to carry, just in case, so I haven't used it enough to dull it.

When I come home from work I have my glock and/or my little tiny .25 cal pistol I keep in my purse.

I have 3 dogs but the only one that barks is now pretty deaf. I've given up on the greyhound but still have hopes for the little beagle. Even though the old one can't hear she knows when the others sense something so it's hard to tell she's deaf.

You did say it had to be a knife, right?

Ok, got a new boogyman knife. Actually bought two of them.

Hubertus stag handled switchblade with roll out hand guard! it is called "The Guardian"
In-Credible!

and

a small Hubertus switchblade regular w/stag handles.

Both hand made in Germany and gorgeous.

Both just dying for a boogyman to plunge into

veeery cool, Joe Cop

that will definately work

I pity your boogyman. He's gonna have a bad butt ache...

that is if he tries to run

The knife on my nitestand is a Puma White Hunter, about 12 inches further away is my Hi-Standard 18-7, stuffed with #7 field loads. If that won't scare the boogy-man the dog will.

Kingknives - I've a 590 also...Awesome business end there, but tell me, what's it loaded with?

Speaking of loads, what do my fellow forumites think of 12 ga. Flechettes as a home defense load? Flechettes are finned nails. They fly every which way at close range, and only stabilize out to a point first orientation well out.

Would I be better off with large birdshot, such as size 2 or 4?

Lots of family members, and sheetrock walls here.......

Any bayonet with an M1A .308 attached to it. Boogeymen don't do as well with lots of 30 cal holes in them.

Anytime I've had to check out the house at night:

18in HI Kobra - light, fast & razor sharp.
8in Fairburn/Sykes Brit. Commando Dagger.
4 D-cell MagLight.

If I go out into the back-yard I'm accompanied by a pair of very (fast) protective dogs.

I keep my Kabar new generation USMC fighter bedside every night. Lately though, I have laid my new Busse Lean Mean Street right beside the trusty Kabar. 2 is better than one I guess!

Assuming I heard bumps in the night and discovered that my 870, 1911, and my .357 Revolver had mysteriously vanished into the night I would most likely grab my Spyderco Rescue, Benchmade AFO or my Swiss Tinker. They're not exactly top choice for ventilating bad guys, but they're my top three daily carry knives for work whick I keep in my nightstand with my wallet and car keys. Sheesh, wimpy selection, eh? *sheepish grin*
