What the heck is the deal with Gil Hibben knives?

The Lord of the Ring series sparked a strong interest in fantasy knives. Gil Hibben was chosen to make one of the swords or knives for one of the films and the market just took off. I don't know the precise history but Hibben had made exotic looking knives long before the fantasy craze hit in a major way. Fantasy knives are just plain fun.
