What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That pic was taken by a doc at the animal hospital. When he sat and smiled at her, she had to take a photo.
We thought he'd benefitted from cross/species transfer of the norovirus we had on the last day of our trip ~ coming out of both ends...
But when I realized he was peeing blood, I skipped the regular vet and went straight to the serious facility. An xray showed an enlarged and/or mis-shapen prostate with what could be either an infection or something worse, like a tumor.
Got him on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory, but not going to rush into their instructions to have his balls cut off.
If follow ups with the regular vet show improvement with the antibiotics, I'll probably let him keep them. If it's cancer, I'll do what I have to.

Manny was born in November of 1016. My son brought him home at 5 weeks. It was his decision not to neuter, and after he died the next July, I honored his choice. Compared to my previous male dogs, two German Shepherd Dogs, two Brittany Spaniels, and a Boston Terrier, all cut, Manny shows no tendency to get lazy and fat, stays muscular, and has tons of energy. Hormones are for more than reproduction.

Since then, I have endured countless suggestions to have him cut.
Veterinary school obviously teaches an activist view toward intact dogs. But that's because there are a lot of irresponsible pet owners out there.

He is acting more like himself after starting the meds, so we'll see. Like I said, I'll do it if neccessary, but would rather not.

Nice pristine Bowie Stockman, Lance. I don't see the usual crack below the center pin!😎

Best wishes for Manny. I hope that the antibiotics work πŸ‘

I'm keeping Manny in my thoughts, what a beautiful pup. :)

He lives! Hope you're doing well buddy. Spey lamb looks like all you'd ever need.
Appreciate that, Pat!

Something that haunts me is the talk we had about how much we set as a level of spending we can tolerate. It was over $1K at the hospital.
Don't worry though. Because of the emotional connection to our late son, and the way he's bonded to me ~ like no other dog ever, that spending limit is very high.πŸ₯°

Carruthers is a new one to me because I don't get out much, but I sure dig that belt knife!
Used these 2 to unpack and assemble a recumbent bike yesterday and again put them into my pockets for today . Please excuse the use of a re-cycled pic

Harry
Wait just a minute Mr Harry. Assemblage calls for an SAK or Scout knife. Or a TL-29.

Hopefully it's not cancer, concerning the neutering of your dog I agree with the premise of weight gain and laziness, my cane Corso who had multiple surgeries for stones and hernia this past Spring,i was advised to neuter him to possibly lesson the chance of the stones returning, and as much work as it is to have an un neutered dog I could not believe his weight gain since and loss of prey drive even his emotional state has changed.this is my first neutered dog.

I hope the meds help Manny. I know there is a huge bond to him.
