I finished "The Lovely Bones" - was pretty good. Fascinating idea, but the ending wasn't quite what I had hoped for.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold - ***

Couldn't finish "March Upcountry"....too dry for me. I guess I'm not a true SciFi reader.

The Bible, not a holy roller but it is very interesting. Also has a great ending.

Daniel: The Road's a pretty good movie, very cool landscapes. I havent read the book yet so i dont know how well it stays to the plot.

Wilson's Repairman Jack books are brilliant, but he uses a style of writing where all his novels literally take place within a month, a week, a day, or even seconds of each other, and even the different series are all related. It was really hard for me to figure out where to start reading those books, because I like to read chronologically from the start of a series.

The Weber/Ringo Prince Roger collaborations are fantastic. I own all four.

Also recommend John Birmingham's Axis of Time books. A 22nd-century UN naval task force finds itself in the middle of the Battle of Midway.

S.M. Stirling's Emberverse novels about a worldwide incident that changes the rules of physics- making high-energy chemical reactions and strong electrical currents impossible. "Dies the Fire" is the first one. Great books.

Also, Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. The only wizard in the Chicago phone book.

And....now done with "Flood" - ****

Glenn Beck's "The Overton Window"

Jim Powell's "FDR's Folly: How Roosevelt and His New Deal Prolonged the Great Depression"

Dave Grossman's "On Combat: The Psychology and Physioligy of Deadly Conflict in War and Peace"

Then Friedrich von Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom"
