What's your favourite knife?

At the moment, my favorite knife is actually a chef's knife I made from AEB-L @62 HRC w/ Stabilized spalted oak handle. 10 DPS edge.

Of the 35 blades I own, 10 are Spyderco Military's. My favorite one of those 10 would be the KW exclusive in CF/Ti S90v.

I fell in love with it while hunting. The trip started before I got out there into the woods. I went to a local sporting good store and bought ammo, got a new scope off an online retailer and bought some cold weather gear from various outlets. Got all my gear home and started unboxing everything with the Military. Broke down all the boxes with it and packed everything up.

When I got to the ranch to go hunt, it was a talking piece with a friend. Then the real work began.

He got a whitetail, my other buddy got one as well and I got a hog and a turkey. This knife skinned and cleaned all of them.

I rinsed it off, put it in my back right pocket. Walked around to collect firewood and grabbed it again to make some kindling with it. Once again, it handled that no problem.

After we warmed up a bit and had a few drinks, we took off a couple hams off the hog and slapped it on the smoker to let it sit in there overnight. The blade shape was similar enough to a boning knife that I could get into the ball joints very easily.

That was a great weekend, and when I got home and put everything away I got the knife back out and it would still shave hair. I'm an experience sharpener, and all I did to it when i got it out of the box was strop it with a 1 micron loaded strop.

It boils down to the performance and size.
-The cutting edge is about 3.7 inches.
-Its thin enough to slice through cardboard and muscle groups and ball joints.
-Comfortable enough to get into shaving some wood down for a while. Its materials and construction is also something I'm very taken with.
-S90v became my favorite steel after that weekend.

I now buy every one that they put out.

My Shirogorov NeOn Zero displaced my 3 CRKs as a favorite and has been my EDC for the last 6 months. Heavenly deployment, amazing blade to scale ratio, slicey, super solid lock, thin and light, yet ergonomic without hot spots.

For work knife I like the Konosuke HD2 Gyuto 270mm. This semi-stainless steel is a lot more forgiving than carbon steel for maintenance, but is still very close in hardness and taking a sharp edge.

Production: Grimsmo Rask
>>just received a Shirogorov Kami and it’s a contender to possibly displace it

Custom : Gene Shadley traditional - a 6 blade folding Congress pattern that Gene made for me. It’s an exact reproduction of the pocketknife Lincoln carried and had in his pocket the night he was assassinated.

I don't have a favorite knife.....and it Really bothers me!I

I have a favorite handle, a favorite blade, steel, sheath, "look", etc. Etc.

But not the complete package.

I Do have the Opposite though......a couple stinkers which SHOULD be my favorites, since they cost so much......but they aren't. :/
HAha

That is a tough question for knife nuts.

My motto is “The right tool for the right job”.
However, when it comes to knives, I am very much enamored with all of my knives. That is the reason I have way too many knives to use for the rest of my life… (And when I go hiking some told me I am a roaming cutlery shop)

Well, there is one exception:
I am right there with what @CanadaKnifeGuy has stated, the Becker BK14 is just an amazing knife.
I EDC it every day and it cuts everything. From the Apple to the Zombie, that little inconspicuous knife punches way above its class.

Is it my favorite knife? I think right now it is the closest to a grail I can actually get…
