When do you NOT want a distal taper?

Cliff--I plan to start by leaving it saber-ground. I want compare it against another saber-ground blade. When I get done with those tests I might widen the primary grind, but it would be a lot of work to go to a full grind. We'll see how it goes. As much as anything I just want to see how tough a 5160 blade may be. I actually thought that I might use a torch and draw the hardness of the spine down. I believe the whole blade is around 58 RC now.
