When you need a sheath

I think the newer made in USA 110/112 sheaths are loose fitting compared to the Mexican made ones.
I agree the nylon one are better for edc carry.

I like a custom leather slip sheath with the auto 110/112.

😊
How loose fitting?
Does the knife slop around?

I’ve worn out many 110 sheaths. I’ve made new ones, bought some basket weave ones from ebay, and bought from Buck. There are many options. Many magazine pouches fit 110’s.

I would just buy from Buck now. I like the factory sheaths. The nylon ones are absolutely the most rugged long lived ones I have used.

So I got this sheath in 1980 in Gatlinburg, Tenn while on my honeymoon riding my Harley. Carried it for roughly 4 years and then retired it.
Fit great for my 112. Unfortunately time has taken its toll and the stitching is deteriorating.
Lots of miles and time on my belt back then as I wore it every day!!
Oh. Good bike riding memories!!
John 😁

I believe the ones made in Mexico are snug and stiff when new and the USA ones are not.

Not bothersome, but not tight either.
Mine are the distressed leather versions so it's probably that

They fit great with thicker handles like stag/ elk.
Thanks for the clarification.

Really, you can't go wrong with any of the Buck sheaths. I think the distressed brown ones look the best. The standard black ones are a little bit stiffer leather than the distressed ones, which I like personally. And the nylon ones are rugged & require no leather treatment or special care. They all last a long time & won't break the bank.

I prefer leather over everything else.
I do like the sheath that came with my 110LT , it doesn't have the charm and appeal of leather that can age & patina along with the brass of a Buck but it does function very well.

I like brown leather and they aren’t always in stock when I want one. Sometimes I also want something that’s Lefty-specific. I have three or four Buck sheaths from Ed Costa. I don’t know if he’s on the forums here, and I’ve gotten my hand smacked before for sharing links to people who don’t pay to advertise here, so you’ll have to do your own Googling or PM me if you want his contact info.

Here’s my latest from Ed that showed up a week or so ago. I love it!

I just received the sheath and it'll definitely do.

I don't really like the width , or how low the snap is on the flap though.

The fit is pretty good I think, but that's probably due to this thick piece of leather attached on the inside. ( the snap is installed through it )

Were they always like this or something added because people complained about the loose fit ?
I also noticed the front of the sheath is a much thinner leather, and the sheath actually uses 4 different thicknesses of leather.
The front is 1.8mm, the back 2.9mm, the loop 2.5mm, and that filler inside is 3.2mm.
Why not just make an exact copy of the Mexican made sheaths which I'm pretty sure they designed ?

At least it's functional and of good quality, only time will tell how it ages.

That looks like a sheath for the Autos. The extra piece of leather is designed to limit the possibility of accidentally pushing the firing button. Maybe they are making them all that way now.

I don't know anything about the Auto's or their sheaths, but that does make sense.

You nailed it! This is the sheath from my 112 auto...
