I'm kinda pinching this question from another forum but if you could only choose 3 knives that you had to use for the rest of your life which would they be ?
I immediately think of a big chopper/camp type knife, Mid sized do-it-all type and a small fixed/necker or folder but you don't have to follow this train of though it's entirely up to you !!!!

Himalayan Imports M-43, HI R-10, Victorinox Super Tinker. This is probably cheating, but I'd want my Buck folding saw too.

Ka-Bar large heavy Bowie, Vic. Farmer, and Benchmade Dejavoo.
I think that with these three I could do just about whatever I need.

SY SOD, BK9 (either the Camillus or the Becker/Kabar), and my Spyderco large Manix.

thak god though i dont have to choose.....

Definitely my Leatherman wave, and my DP scandi campmaster....Haven't decided on my chopper yet

SAK Farmer, Barky Bravo1, and ColdSteel Trailmaster. They would last a lifetime under careful but tough use.

RAT RC6 and Spyderco Millie for sure.

For a third, I would think it would be an axe, 19"wetterlings, axes count right?

If not, then I would go with a folding saw.

Puukko ------------------------ general outdoor chores and field dress deer.
Good butcher knife------------- cut up deer
Stockman slipjoint ------------- general chores and a steak knife to eat deer.

I'd like a 4th to fillet fish, but a thin stockman blade can be used.
P.S/ I love venison steak...

Oh no you don't! I'm not falling for this one!

Well, all right.... but I'm picking an alternate for each one. :)

Busse CGFBM or SARsquatch
Fallkniven F1 or Busse BAD
Leatherman Wave (old style) or Vic Huntsman

No wait...

... oh forget it! I hate doing this! I don't know why I try!

Stay sharp,
desmobob

When I think "for the rest of my life" I tend to rule out SAKs and Multitools because, for me, more moving parts = more chance for failure. In that vein, I'd probably choose a large, medium, and small fixed blade or an axe and a medium and small fixed blade.

Of what I currently own, they'd be:

HI WWII Khukuri
BRKT Bravo-1
RAT Izula

Here's my three:

Chopper: Chopweiler - Thanks Russ
Woodsman: Laconico HWK - Thanks Ray and Matthew
City Knife: Gerber Silver Knight - Thanks A. G. Russell

Out of all the knives I have owned and own, if I had to choose 3 blades till the end, they would be...

Small fixed blade- Gossman PSK
Do all blade- ML kephart
then a chopper. An S&N, or GB...

-Ontario pilots survival knife

-Buck 112 or 110, but I prefer the 112

-Woodmans pal.

If you don't consider the WP a knife, then I'll throw in a full tilt mil issue Kabar
