Which 3 knives for the rest of your life ?

When I think "for the rest of my life" I tend to rule out SAKs and Multitools because, for me, more moving parts = more chance for failure. In that vein, I'd probably choose a large, medium, and small fixed blade or an axe and a medium and small fixed blade.

Of what I currently own, they'd be:

HI WWII Khukuri
BRKT Bravo-1
RAT Izula

i agree if it where till the end i would have to rule out any moveing parts.
as posted in sed other thread my chose would be
cgfbm
ash le or bravo 1 tough one there
culti

Hmmm... that's a good strategy, picking an all-Busse line-up for knives that would have to be durable enough to last the rest of your life.

I'll change my choices (still with alternates!) to:

Busse CGFBM or SARsquatch
Busse Meaner Street or NW SAR5
Busse BAD or Cultellis

I knew I should have never played this game!

Stay sharp,
desmobob

since Pitdog only mentioned KNIVES, i'm adding a Husky 3120 XP chainsaw and a GB axe to my lineup.

A good 18" or so machete (right now I'm trying Condor brand)
ASH-LE or SFNO-LE (don't make me decide! PLEASE!)
A good rugged folder (BM710 or Mini/Full Ruckus, Spyderco Endura, Strider AR or SMF etc... but if only one then the XM-18!)

A leatherman Charge (since is not technically a knife I'll toss it in the bag also)

RAT RC-6, Spyderco Military, Strider SMF.

If I had to pick just three though. :)

For me, right now, it would be:

Becker BK11 (Becker Necker) with the new handle that Ethan Becker is bringing out.

Becker BK2 Campanion. I love this knife. The more I use it, the better I like it.

The third one is a little trickier, but would either be the Becker BK9 or the new Bolo Machete that Condor is coming out with. It depends on how good the Condor is.

Like several other people have mentioned, anything with moving parts is out. Solid steel fixed blades are almost indestructible, and should last a life time.

Oh, and I'd throw in a Silky, since it's not technically a knife.

Only three? OUch! That's so mean!

Large chopper: BRKT Golok
Mid-size "do it all": BRKT Canadian Special or Kephart, still can't decide!
Small Fixed: BRKT Kephart Companion

Plus a Vic Huntsman Plus in my pocket, and a BRKT Canadian Sportsman in my fishing gear.....

1. SDS Nessmuk - partly "new knife" infatuation, but it ought to excel at a very wide range of tasks.

2. Vic Spirit multitool - sheer utility and the best multi I've had.

3. GEC #25 Barlow or Case Peanut - I can't decide, but I'd want one of my small white-collar edc's that can ride comfortably in dress pants.

Since an axe isn't a knife, a Snow & Neally Hudson Bay would be my chopper.

Bought this almost 30 years ago for $2 at a swap meet, recently cleaned up by Mike Stewart

My uncles knife that my aunt gave me after he passed away about 20 years ago

After that it really doesn't matter to me I have a number of knives that I could choose for the third.

Today I would probably pick my Bravo 1

or possibly my Case Bowie

Then I might also carry one of these

For right now,

Victorinox Swisstool
Benchmade 710D2
HI Imports WWII 18" or my 20" sirupate..

Well Pit, you are talking about my wife's dream, three knives.:) For me that is. I could do it with the Kabar Cutlass, Mora SS Clipper and the JK Hiker Backup.

Of course i could do it all with JK Knives too. I have a Breeden coming soon as well. You said 30 right?:D Or was it 300?

That's like saying only drink 3 beers? However, BK7, Buck 403, Buck selector with several blades. Hah, the selector only counts as one knife with 10 blades. Well IMO anyway. :-)

It was 300. If it was only 3, then any of mine would suffice. They're all sharp enough to slit my wrists.... ;)
